Well, baby bez is finally here.

Thank god i had a lovely independent midwife so was able to avoid induction, altho i must admit in the end i was half hoping i would be "made" to have an induction as i was so fed up.

at 43 weeks and 4 days baby Leon finally arrived, weighing 8lb 2 after an hour of contractions.

So after being terrified of the pain and starting the pain of childbirth thread, panicking I wouldnt cope without an epidural, I had a completely natural birth, delivering leon on my own as there was no time to get assistance and dp was out and I did nothing for the pain but scream!

Congratulations Bex Wonderful news.

BTW two 43weekers, both with short labours, posting on the same day. What does that do to your average figure Zebra

aloha · 26/01/2004 16:53

I mean, Bez.
Was your midwife with you???

Blu · 26/01/2004 16:53

Blimey, Bez, do you mean completely on your own, or was there a MW?
Anyway, huge congratulations, and well done. Welcome, little Leon.

bez · 26/01/2004 17:55

God, just realised milkybarkid has had hers really late too. Glad I'm not the only one. I was feeling really sorry for myself and thought nobody else had ever been pregnant for as long as me! Feel a bit guilty now about moaning, at least mine was really quick in the end.

No, no midwife there as I wasnt expecting things to happen so fast and then all of a sudden pain too unbearable to do anything other than scream, couldnt get to the phone so couldnt even get an ambulance. phoned mw once baby was born!

OMG - Bez - you now need to go into details. Didn't realise you were totally alone!

I need to know what was going through you head and what you did with the baby and just give me more!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the happy arrival. A lovely big boy.

I am also dying to know more. Having baby at home alone was one of my greatest fears. I thought the first thing I would do would be call an ambulance. In the end I had plenty of time 24hours in fact.

So, did you not panic? Did you cut the cord yourself? Were you on the floor or the bed? What did you have to do next once you called the midwife? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Lots of admiration coming your way!

SoupDragon · 26/01/2004 18:41
