Morning all......... Off to the hospital in London with Wilf today for a checkup with his consultant. I think my guardian angel was watching out for us yesterday....... We normally go on a Monday... yesterday the WHOLE Circle Line was shut which would have caused us major trouble, thank goodness we are going today!!! I have had a very good holiday with Wilfred. I think the introduction of the Ritalin has certainly made him much calmer. Speak to you lter when we get back if i dont get on here before we go again!

FMN - it's the pelvic thrusts that got me in this mess in the first place

Hi Frasersmummy, it's good to see you again. I'm glad that wobble has passed, talking about the past is therapeutic, but can also feel like it drains the life out of you.

You never know, there may be a birth announcement before you go - infact, I bloody hope there will be!

Mel - I hope your fil gets his results soon. Whatever the results, it helps to know what the next steps are.

Trips - good to see you popping your head in.

Much love to you all xx

shabster · 02/09/2008 11:05

Oh girls my lastborn is at high school!! He went for the first time this morning. Never looked back, or waved, or even kissed me

This is the strangest of strangest feelings. Also think I qualify for the title of oldest mum of a year 7 kid

Hi there ladies, it's been a while since I posted on this site, haven't had the chance to read all that I've missed but nevertheless have been thinking about you all.

ILTMIMI - sending best wishes and hope that we hear some news soon!

Trips - Love to your DH, hope the treatment is going well.

Mel - sorry to hear about your FIL. My DH is currently having treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) so can sympathise with your situation.

Shabs - pleased to hear that Beth is coming home.

FMN - How are you?

Lottie - reading your posts always makes me smile!

My DH is poorly at the moment. He was transferred to Barts Intensive Care Unit last night as his blood pressure was very low. However this morning he has stabilised and is fairly comfortable. Now they are monitoring him closely to decide what to do next.

Unfortunately the 1st course of chemo he had been having didn't work so they have given him a much more intensive dose which he has finished but now has no resistance to infection until his blood counts start to rise again. I have also started to read up on bone marrow transplants and came across Baldy's Blog (Adrian Sudbury) which has received many awards. However, it certainly showed that the transplant is not always the answer and that there could be many more potential problems to come .... I probably shouldn't have read the blog but there you go, I am too nosy for my own good!

Anyway, hope I haven't bored you. Much love to you all.

shabster · 02/09/2008 12:11

So good to see you Dippy.

Sorry to hear about DH - I cant imagine how it feels. Give him my love and a kiss (I am menopausal and have a sweaty moustache though).

FMN - dont want your DH to feel left out - I havent snogged him for ages xxxx

shabster · 02/09/2008 21:24

Hiya girls - hiya frasersmammy - no kiss, no wave, to be honest I was chuffed to mintballs that he didn't cry cause he has been doing a lot of that lately.

He wants me to walk up almost to school with him in the morning - says he couldn't care less if other people think he is being soft!

Tommy is only the second child I have raised to High School entry. I talked to Matthew and Gareth all day and kept asking them to make Tom safe and happy xxx

Morning all. We had a good day yesterday until we got to Mcdonalds on the way home. Wilfred had his first experience with someone with mental health problems and it really upset him Wilf dropped his chips on the floor and slid his chair back to pick them up. Un fortunately his chair hit the one behind him so he said sorry. The man on the chair then proceeded to slam his chair back into Wilfreds so hard that he nearly knocked him off his seat. Wilf of course turned round and said something and the man did the same. I asked Wilf to leave it and he did. He asked me what was wrong with the man when he had left and all i could think of to say was that the mans brain was mixed up! It was obvious only after the event that the man was mentally ill.

shabster · 03/09/2008 08:48

Awww Lottie - its so difficult when our children encounter their 'first' anything isin't it? The first bad fall, first argument with a friend, and the very worse - first time a girlfriend/boyfriend finishes with them. Sadly we live in a strange world with scary events happening everywhere.

I always drummed into my boys 'before you do something or say something think for a couple of seconds what the consequences will be.'

Mind you - Danny says it has done him no good whatsoever Dont you just hate cheeky kids?

could agree with you more, you just want to protect them forever,my ds is a tree surgeon and i cant even watch him ,i cringe, watched him onca and for a joke let himself fall ,i screamed and he thought he was so funny,

lottiejenkins · 03/09/2008 18:30

Hi all. Well
Wilf hasnt got to go back to the hospital in London again till after Christmas and our local hospital till next Easter!!! I am a very happy bunny.....
Regarding yesterdays encounter......... the Social Worker spoke to him about it today. To begin with he thought he was in trouble but we explained about the man being ill and sometimes people dont behave like you expect. Poor old Wilf was hugging his knees and shaking with his eyes like saucers... he said to the SW.... "I was a dittle (wilf speak) bit scared of dat man" I was nearly crying too.....

frasersmummy · 03/09/2008 20:15

Lottie I am glad you got good news from the hospital.. sometimes its just hard to find the right words to explain stuff in terms that our dc will understand.

we used to have a band tying the stake to
frasers tree but the treee outgrew it and I guess dh just took it off and left it in the garden.

Ross picked it up today and asked what it was when I told him i got a whole host of questions re Fraser. I was doing fine till he asked ..where did Fraser die . As I said in mummys tummy I burst into tears

he looked at me and said .. mummy stop having sad eyes .. Fraser and I love you .. cue hysterics from me..

he was hugging me and asking me to smile.. when I stopped crying he gave me a huge grin and said .. I like it when you dont have sad eyes

bless him

shabster · 03/09/2008 21:24

Oh frasersmammy - you have knocked me for six. It wont harm him that you cry - it will teach him a fantastic lesson that grief is best coming 'out' never, ever staying tight inside. Ive tried that and it does not work. Oh precious little lad.

Glad you got good news Lottie - so glad.

Hi all, We are both off to Bristol at 11am! We are going to visit Aardmans film studios!
They are paying our train fare. I threatened to go the press about them because they have been advertising disability on ITV and then hadnt captioned some of their dvds! They didnt give any response regarding it so after two weeks i threatened the press and they rang up and offered to pay for the trip! Will let you know how it goes!

well done you lottie hope you had a fab day

I took my mum shopping for clothes today.. she cant walk very far so we do shop mobility

She used to plan her trips carefully to stop her having to walk too far .. now she has discovered the joys of an electric scooter she goes up and down the malls to her heart's content.

She forgets that I am on shank's pony... eventually I gave up and said.. you go to siansburys I need a rest.. hahahahah
