Whatever you're feeling is OK, there is no 'normal' reaction. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

whomovedmychocolate · 06/09/2007 17:28

Don't worry, I'm going through the same thing right now. What happens is your HCG levels drop and it starts off what will probably feel like a really heavy period. Sometimes the bleeding starts first, sometimes it's heavy cramps. Take painkillers (and enough of them to see you through) when the pain starts and take yourself off to bed.

The bleeding will probably be heavy and you will probably feel quite tired and you may feel cold and shivery. Go to bed and rest if you can.

If you are beyond about eight weeks you may actually find pieces of embryo in the blood - don't worry unduly if you do, or if you don't. Expect the bleeding to go on for AT LEAST the length of your longest period bleed.

Sorry you are going through this.

Bouncingturtle · 06/09/2007 17:30

You are not horrible - it is totally understandable to feel that way. I'm afraid that nature will take as long as nature does. Have you started bleeding?

Greensleeves · 06/09/2007 17:30

Sympathy to you too whomovedmychocolate, how awful for you

well it went like this, friday i started bleeding old blood and it stopped on saturday. I had a scan on monday afternoon and everything was fine. Then yesterday morning i went to make my bed and noticed 3 big red stains on the sheet, i didnt notice i was bleeding but started at 7 last night, but by this morning it had stopped. I am having very very mild cramps at the moment so am hoping this is the start of it.

)))))))))))))))))Hugs((((((((((((((((((((((

That has happened to me in the past too.

Did you examine what came out? I did and could just make out my little beanie. It may sound silly but I remeber doing a prayer then said goodbye.

Another one of my angels went to heaven today. I m/c'd at 7+5. My beanies heart stopped too. I had a ERPC today.

Never stop hoping and wanting your little miracle. Today was my 6th m/c and I will hopefully still get mine one day.

sonia123 · 06/09/2007 18:19

So sorry to hear that. The same happened to me last week - I did an 8 week scan and found embryo died at 5-6 weeks. I spoke to several obstetricians and they all recommended I have an ERPC procedure, as otherwise it could take weeks for things to happen naturally and risk is infection and hemorraging, and bigger risk for you and your fertility. ERPC takes about 15 minutes and is done under anesthesia. I did it last week, recovery was quick and I was back at work 3 days later. The only problem is that NHS does not pay for it, so you would have to do it privately. I was lucky as my health insurance covered it. Public healthcare systems in most other countries like USA and France do it routinely, just not NHS because of cost. It is also better in order to get over the miscarriage physically and emotionally and move on, and is much healthier for the woman so that your system can get back to normal quickly if you want to try for another one.

oinker · 06/09/2007 18:19

From expereince..........

The bleeding will come and so will some pain. You will be able to manage it with pain killers. It'll feel like a heavy cramping period.

This is going to sound awful..... I was going to suggest sex with a condom (to prevent infection). This also speeds up the inevitable process. I was advised of this a while ago by doc. It works.

Make sure you take some time off work and relax at home. You need to take time to heal from this both physically and mentally.

oinker · 06/09/2007 18:21

Sonia123

Mine was done on the NHS. It's the 3rd one they have done. Why would they not do yours?
I have always been offered it and there has never been any mention of costs

CatIsSleepy · 06/09/2007 18:22

Sonia I had an ERPC on the NHS a couple of years ago (Kings College hospital)
