How early did your baby walk?

My daughter was crawling at 8 months and now at a week off 9 months she is looking like it won't be long before she is walking as she is cruising around the furniture and wanting to walk (although she hasn't got her balance yet) this is all a big shock to me as my son was 16 months old before he walked. Any other early walkers? not that she is walking just yet

Thanks

G

dd3 - 9/10 months

barnsleybelle · 18/10/2008 22:09

Ds crawled at 13 months and walked at 18 months.

Dd now 13 months and doing absolutely bugger all other than sitting there!!!

Gobbledigook · 18/10/2008 22:10

Ds1 - 9 months
Ds2 - 9/10 months
Ds3 - 13 months

kiddiz · 18/10/2008 22:24

Ds2 and DD both walked around a year. Ds1 walked at 18 months. He has arthrogryposis and many with his condition struggle to walk at all so he did really well.

scaryfucker - have a day off love

christywhisty · 18/10/2008 22:27

DS 10 months- a relief as he was a heavy little lump.

DD 13 months.

Niecie · 18/10/2008 22:36

DS1 crawled at 10 mths, walked at 14.5 mths and talked at 21 mths

DS2 crawled at 8mths and walked at 11 months. He was talking in short sentences 18 mths - he hasn't shut up yet.

DS2 wasn't that early but there was a big difference between him and DS1 in how sensible they were when walking. DS2 was a lot more reckless than DS1 and had no sense of danger.

totalmisfit · 18/10/2008 22:37

8 months, 3 weeks, 2 days.

yeah, i'm pretty smug about that one

FangolinaJolly · 18/10/2008 22:40

I am still waiting for dd to walk independently. The most she has managed is 9 steps HURRAH! then she falls over. She is nearly 3 with special needs.Shes a bugger on her little walking frame though!

ds walked at a year.

scaryfucker · 18/10/2008 22:58

mama, how do you know I have been working today ??????

scaryfucker · 18/10/2008 22:59

I am having an evening off, does that count ?

MamaHobgoblin · 19/10/2008 10:31

Oh god, this is pretty depressing (I like an easy life ).

My ds is 7 and a half months old. He started creeping commando-style at 6 months and quickly progressed to all fours. He now gets up a fair lick, usually in pursuit of the poor cat. He has been pulling himself up to stand for the last couple of weeks - mostly on people, but now on furniture, with the resultant topples and bumps. I am doing my best to watch like a hawk... (He is currently trying to remove dvds from the shelf. I am on MN, being Bad Mother.)

His dad walked at about 9 months, apparently. I've been in denial about this, but it looks like he's going to follow the pattern.

beeny · 19/10/2008 10:41

Properly walking at 11 months

PumpkinPatty · 19/10/2008 10:43

DD sat up at 5 months
Never crawled but started bum shuffling at about 8 months
Walked at 12 months

katylou25 · 19/10/2008 11:18

Ds1 crawled at 6 months, cruised at 8 but didn't walk till 16 months

ds2 ont he other hands crawled at 5 months, was up the stairs at 6 months and walked ran like alook at 10 months - was a nightmare all round!!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 19/10/2008 11:24

Early walking has its drawbacks, but my 2 year old is not walking yet and it is no fun carrying a heavy 2 year old everywhere and lifting her onto the slide etc at the park!

stayinbed · 19/10/2008 11:27

DD1 14 months
DD2 14 months

they were both quite heavy babies and i always thought this is why they were less inclined to move around. or they just prefer to sit in one place like their mum

PillowOfDOOM · 19/10/2008 11:34

Dd walked 10 days before her first birthday but was crawling and cruising for months before that

MadameCastafiore · 19/10/2008 11:37

Both of mine walked before they were 10 months - was hell - they were like mini missiles crashing into everything and getting covered in bruises. DD was particularly small for her age and everyone kept asking if she was older but had some sort of growth problem!

katylou25 · 19/10/2008 11:45

obv ran like a loon not a look!

Bluebutterfly · 19/10/2008 11:48

ds
crawled 7 mths
walked at 10 mths

Bubbaluv · 19/10/2008 11:58

I STILL have a scar on my forehead from my first week of walking (9 months). Apparently I never crawled and went straight into a full run. Then ran straight into the garden wall.
DS walked at 12 months, but I have to say I am finding the walking stage MUCH easier than the crawling stage.

cazzybabs · 19/10/2008 12:01

dd1 12 months

dd2 12 months

dd3 9 months and 1 day

littlewhitebull · 19/10/2008 16:48

Mamahobgoblin

My son is now nearly 11 months old and was crawling and pulling himself up at your son's age. He's been cruising for ages but is only now beginning to stand without support for a few seconds so early development in crawling/cruising doesn't necessarily mean early walking.

Fingers crossed!

kt14 · 19/10/2008 20:37

ds1 - 12 months, couldn't wait for him to do it, ds2 now 14 months and only taken a few steps so far. Not bothered in slightest. Funny how things change!
