DS's triumphs for the day were:

a floaty kind of dance - "I am an anemone dancing to the music of the waves"

"When I die, don't bury me - I am too beautiful. Put me in a glass coffin."

not his butchest day ever

DD1 (4.4 yo) " i dont think DD2 (16mo) likes us"
Me "what?"
DD1 "she just swept out of the room"!

singersgirl · 27/01/2008 00:00

Some of these are marvellously poncoid (but have no idea how to find a cedilla on this keyboard).

Love the rhetorical question and hitting puberty head on.

dippydeedoo · 27/01/2008 00:28

not as good as some but still funny dh has a penchant for nutty brittle(nuts in toffee block) well im here with my friends dh goes to work .....matts age 7 shouts out of the door loud as can be ...."dad youve left ya brutty knickers on the floor" .....

LadyBabo · 27/01/2008 21:52

Eating dinner with dd, she spotted my empty plate and said "oh no, Mummy's finished, what ARE we going to do now?!"
May not sound too poncy / impressive, but bearing in mind she's only 21 MONTHS... and her favourite food is olives with cherry tomatoes. Looking forward to extreme ponciness in the future, especially if I keep forcing her to watch Little Einsteins on playhouse disney...

snorkle · 27/01/2008 22:00

ds and dd arguing going into McDonalds ds says: "We are NOT eating in here, it will ruin my credibility if anyone sees us"

Anchovy · 27/01/2008 22:02

I too have an overly-articulate 4 year old.

When she started nursery school at 2.7, Miss Janet explained something that they would be doing and DD looked at her very gravely and said "I assume you are pulling my leg".

In overall ponce terms, I think the best either of my DC have come out with was when DS said when eating his lunch when he was 3 or 4 "Mummy, did this rocket come from the garden or was it delivered by Ocado". Ponce-tastic on every level, I think you'll agree.

berolina · 27/01/2008 22:03

ds1, 2.8, choosing a book for me to read to him, getting a poetry anthology: 'This poem book makes me feel happy.'

hatwoman · 27/01/2008 22:11

pmsl at fox and boco.

dd2 (5) is developing a not particularly poncey thing but a bit of a God thing. (dh took both dds to the book shop recently to buy something. she chose a bible). dd1 (7) is developing a possibly slightly poncey philosophical approach to God (dh and I both heathens btw)

conversation the other day at breakfast went like this

dd1 (with the vigour of a true cynic) "the reason I don't belive in God is how can Jesus be God and God be his father at the same time? it's not possible"

dd2: (with a beatific face) "because He's everyone's father"

hatwoman · 27/01/2008 22:12

anchovy - that's superb.

3andnomore · 27/01/2008 22:18

lol F&Z

always cracks me up when my 3 year odl says things like : but certainly or certainly not...depending on the question asked....posh little thing that he is...hasn't got it from me, obviously...

on the other hand his...oh for gods sake has started to sound more like for f*s sake....oooops...

3andnomore · 27/01/2008 22:20

snorkle...how old is that ds?

some of these are just totally hilarious!

gigglewitch · 27/01/2008 22:21

not poncey, but rather hilarious (and not in a good way)
My DD (25 mo) has just told me, after I had obeyed her instructions to read three stories of her choosing and declined to read her a fourth, as it was "sleep time", thus came quotation of the week (and it's only Sunday)...
"Mummy, you're pissing me off. Go away, I want Daddy." (all said quite matter-of-factly as only a two-year-old can)

Moomin · 27/01/2008 22:23

I was trying to do something with dd1's hair this morning before we went out to visit friends. As I'm struggling with a bobble she says : 'No mummy, don't put that in, I have something specifically in mind for my hair today'.

and on the same vein as grrgirl...
As dd1 came out of school with loads of bags and papers one FRiday recently I said :'Do you want to put that stuff under the pushchair?' and Dd1 replies 'Is that s rhetorical question, mummy?'

funnypeculiar · 27/01/2008 22:24

ds (3.5) told me that
'My favourite thing at nursery is tai-chi - it's very calming, and it slows youor heart right down'
(state nursery, incidentally)

He also sang all round sainsburys
'We love asparagus at our house, we eat it allllll the time, daddy loves it, I love, it, dd loves it, we LOVE asparagus'

snorkle · 27/01/2008 22:39

3andnomore, he's 13 & came out with this statement this evening. Twas the first I knew that a 13 yos credibility might be damaged by MacDonalds - I rather thought it was my parenting credibility that would suffer but hey. Agree there are some excellent tales on this thread.

3andnomore · 27/01/2008 22:48

lol snorkle....

SaveScrabulous · 28/01/2008 11:52

ds (2.6) refers to any chocolate as 'Green and Blacks'. Frightfully middle class me thinks.

GooseyLoosey · 28/01/2008 11:57

Ds (4.6) said to the teaching assistant in his reception class last week in response to her comment "that's a nice monster you have made", "its not a monster, is a minotaur".

He also said (age 3) when someone trying to console him for having dropped something said "never mind, it was only an accident", "it was not, it was gravity".

I would be immensely proud if I did not have a sneaking suspicion that these utterances may not wholly reflect positively on my parenting.

Aitch · 28/01/2008 11:57

these are priceless, well done all.

dd, just turned two, sat in Wagamama yesterday devouring an entire bowlful of edamame while telling a story to her pictures on the menu. 'once upon a time there was an enormous normous mummy omputer'. i think i'm spending too much time on here.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 28/01/2008 12:11

LOL at Anchovy!

Not poncey but funny nonetheless:
DS (2.4) was holding a little p[lastic bag yesterday, then he has a brown piece of mega blocks. I asked him what he was doing. He replied "Picking up Dog Poo"

My2Weegirls · 28/01/2008 12:42

dd1 (just turned 3yr) going up to a complete stranger and telling them that 'it's not a telly it's a television. telly is such a common word'.

Belgianchocolates · 28/01/2008 12:50

As a proud mum I can't resist these threads. My ds (6) is currently convinced he'll grow up to be Spiderman. He claims that his webs are invisible atm. He tripped over his own size 1's yesterday and got up and said: 'OH no, I've tripped over one of my own webs!' These invisible webs, can be such a pain[;)]

TsarChasm · 28/01/2008 12:55

I posted this the other day.

My ds (6) announced that he felt he required some 'adult guidance' with something he was trying to 'mend' with grandad's screwdriver.

Snippety · 28/01/2008 13:03

Hilarious thread. My DS is still only 7 months, but I do remember my brother being taken out to a family restaurant aged about 4. The waitress offered him various children's desserts and after a moment's consideration he said "Please may I sample the brie ?" having caught sight of a cheese trolley being brought to an adjacent table.
