"duck", I think, and about 13-14 months or so. He called most other things "ba" fairly indiscriminately at that stage. Next two consistently identifiable words were "ook" (book) and "air" (stairs).

smartiejake · 19/12/2007 23:40

dd1- teddy 12 months
dd2 7 months- duck

Lubyloo · 19/12/2007 23:41

"shoes" ds1 12 months
"bobble" - he meant bottle, which was at our front door containing milk, and he required me to move it but i was being dim. just before 12 months
"shoes", "bag" and "mine" (you get the picture) DD 11 months i think. our ears are well and truly ringing and it seems like she has been talking since birth

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 19/12/2007 23:44

the bobble bit was meant to say DS2

coldtits · 19/12/2007 23:44

Ds2 aged 20 months asked for 'ninner' the other day, and I melted!

imaginewittynamehere · 19/12/2007 23:49

dd - fish at about 11 months - well "ish" but I knew what she meant...

WowOoo · 19/12/2007 23:52

Mummy! (mumbled alot for few days) Then properly daddy/ ooh/ ducky when 9-10 mths.

seeker · 20/12/2007 00:04

All the usual mmummums and daddds. Then "Lights!" - dd at 10.5 months seeing her first Christmas tree and "Goal!!!!!" ds at 13 months seeing England score. He's nearly 7 now, and hasn't spoken since - there hasn't been another goal.(not true - he is a football tart and supports anyone who's winning)

puccaupunderthemistletoe · 20/12/2007 00:07

Dd was a very early talker iirc think first word was Grandad at about 10/11mths! by 18 mths she was talking in very good sentences.

Ds is 16 mths and not a dicky bird, getting slightly worried now actually, well he says baba, mama, dada, yeah (in answer to a question) but zilch that is properly recognised iykwim.

MaskedSlur · 20/12/2007 00:13

My dd was also early and chatty (less than 1). My ds not so much. But he is only 15months. Soetimes jhe seems to say things but not habitually I think. I reckon he could though. he seems to choose not to. cheeky mite.

Is it a cursed gender bollocks? Before having children I always thought that was bollocks. Is it?

Did your dds talk early and your dss walk early?

Heathcliffscathy · 20/12/2007 00:15

cat (pronounced tat) aged one (on his birthday actually).

puccaupunderthemistletoe · 20/12/2007 00:17

Maskedslur...In answer to your question, my dd walked at 11 mths, ds walked at 14 mths.

I also didn't believe the whole "boys are lazy" crap, but going off my two, he certainly lagging behind dd.

slim22 · 20/12/2007 00:18

pmsl I assumed it was to do with dd1's homework!

the coracle is our name for a little shallow bowl we use to rinse her hair in the bath She's going to be embarrased when she's older and finds out its actually a boat!

'Eat' at about 10 months, shortly followed by 'mamma', 'dadda', 'ess (meaning Yes)'. He didn't walk till nearly 15 months though and possibly the early vocab is to do with mje dablbing in babysigning and emphasising a few words in particular.

slim22 · 20/12/2007 01:06

Im' really surprised nobody has come up with "no" yet
