ds was 11months and said bubub while pointing to a bottle of bubble blowing stuff.
He had 20 words by around 12 to 13 months and then it all went a bit pear-shaped....by two I think he only had 45 or 50 so his progress was really slow. Just goes to show a fairly early first word doesn't necessarily mean they'll be early after that - but maybe something went wrong with ds which is unusual - he did used to have loads of ear wax at that age so I wonder if he had a glue ear problem....but that's just my amateur doctoring diagnosis there!

oink oink oink. Very clearly.

Bad mummy can't remember when but definitely during that first year sometime.

Gosh this duck thing is interesting! Variation on a theme, DS1 said quack, aged 10-11 mos whilst pointing at one. Used to visit them most days, near where we lived.
DS2-no idea!! He's cross about that!

At about ten or eleven months dd very clearly said highchair. I thought at first that i had misheard, until she said it again soon afterwards. Have since learnt that it was the beginning of a food obsession.

At 25 months "daddy" "mumma" and "ayi" for elephant. At 27 months "think that washing machine's finished washing our clothes".
Bit of a language explosion

susiecutiemincepies · 22/12/2007 23:22

DD started saying daddy with meaning at about 7-8 months.

And hiya and hello soon after 8 months. especially when I am on the phone, still does it loads... constant stream of Hiya's heard in the back ground of any conversation

then Bye- bye accompanied with a wave, at my mum at 9 months.

She now says Buppy = mummy.
dardey = granny
poon= spoon
says Oh! alot
hello
hiya

she copies words quite well but doesnt then say them independantly...

ds said 'car' at 15 months, closely followed by 'tickle' and 'Dada'.

He spoke in good sentences at 2, and his 'questioning' phase wasn't 'why?' but 'what would happen if...?'

He has gone on to develop an unusually wide-ranging vocabulary, compared to his peers, despite not being a particularly early talker.

dd said 'baba' (meaning 'baby') at 15 months, followed by 'Dada' and 'ducky'. Any bird she sees is 'ducky' to her.

dd has a duck obsession, and was saying the sound 'dck,dck,dck,dck' since nine months, when she saw a duck, but it took her some time to say be able to say the vowel.

Nice to see she is in good company with other duck fans.

Ds said very little until about 18 months. After that his first word was car, followed by ball, then various animals!

dd was completely the opposite and said quite a lot before her first birthday. Her first word was backpack (although she said ba pa but we knew what she meant)after watching dora the explorer with ds!
