9mo DD has "cat"
and "daddy"

I'm feeling a bit left out, actually .

JingJanglingBexieHoHoHo · 21/12/2007 10:11

Apart from 'dadada' and 'mamama', the only word Tom (20m) says is 'up'. MIL takes him out for a walk with their dog, and says 'up' to the dog alot. Now Tom says it when he wants out of his cot/highchair!

MrsRecycle · 21/12/2007 10:19

dd1 - 15 months "Dadda"
dd2 - 8 months "Hello"
ds - 8 months "Ella" (dd1's name -shouted it seeing as I'm always shouting it )

pippylongstockings · 21/12/2007 11:52

My DS1 - dada first
My DS2 - the dogs name - Jet at about 9months and now coming up for a year still pretty much the only thing he says.

We obviously shout at our dog alot!

Martha200 · 21/12/2007 11:54

At 12 mths - "ding dong" (we had just moved to an apartment and ds liked the lift a lot!)

VictorianSqualor · 21/12/2007 11:56

Am I the only person that can't really remember their DC's first words????
I'm sure DS's was his sisters name (Ella) but I can't really remember DD's, something tells me it was 'ook' as in look.

VictorianSqualor · 21/12/2007 11:57

Lol, Mrs Recycle! Ella must be an easy one for them to say, or we just said it lots.

MrsRecycle · 21/12/2007 12:16

Oh are all Ella's the same

Bozcat · 21/12/2007 12:18

DD 'baby' at 10 months

RachelG · 21/12/2007 20:56

"tractor" at 22 months

pinkspottywellies · 21/12/2007 22:52

DD picked up dh's mobile, put it to her ear and said 'hello?' at 11 months!

Bink · 21/12/2007 23:01

I'm writing this before reading everyone else's just to see if we were as standard-issue as I think we were ...

  • ds: cah ( = car)
  • dd: duck

both 11 months-ish, dd slightly earlier than ds

I think anecdotally that 11 mos & car/duck are probably statistically the totally commonest you get.

Now I'll read & see ...

coby · 21/12/2007 23:11

DD1 - Dadda (with meaning) at 4.5 months. By 6 months she could say 5 easily recognisable words - didn't take any steps until she was 18 months though.

DD2 - Dadda again but at 8 months, only really just started talking well at 19 months. She couldn't get a word in edgeways with her bossy, chatty sister about. She walked much earlier than her sister though (probably as a means to escape the incessant chattering)

chipmonkey · 22/12/2007 00:00

Ds1 said "How are ya!" at 4 months! after I said it to him. But to my immense disappointment he said nothing else till he was 9 months.

amytheearwaxbanisher · 22/12/2007 00:12

ds 6 months a child genious said heya[smug proud emoticon]never said another word for a year

Bauble99 · 22/12/2007 00:15

Ciabatta. He was 9 months old.

cobysmom · 22/12/2007 00:39

At 8months, DS could say UP for pick me up...but now at 10months, he says AK instead! as in pick me up from high chair, walker or from bed.

DS also chants the ff:

PAPAPA...

DADADA....

NowTheHollyBearsABero · 22/12/2007 00:47

ds1 said 'cat' a couple of days after his first birthday. Then not much at all for a few months. Now he is 2.7 and producing full, grammatically correct sentences in two languages, which has left me rather tbh. That also exploded rather suddenly in the couple of months after his second birthday.

NowTheHollyBearsABero · 22/12/2007 00:48

ds1 said 'ap' for yes for ages - has only gone over to 'yes' recently. I rather miss it.

slim22 - mine too! 'car' at 15mths, also says, bubb (bubbles), ball, mun (moon), bub (bus) and has a large repetoire of animal noises!!!! It is sooooooo cute

LoveAngelGabriel · 22/12/2007 13:02

Around the age of 1 yr old my DS started saying mummy, daddy and 'No' (No No No all the bloody time! God, it was grim).

cruisemum1 · 22/12/2007 13:02

oooh now i think about it he said 'harrah' (hello) from about 12mths whenever he saw/picked up a phone. That was defo the first real word. Still does it now at 15mths

GreenGlassGoblin · 22/12/2007 13:37

the word was 'bird', or it might have been 'ball' but I think that was the next one... DS would have been around 1. What sleep deprevation does for you, you'd think I'd remember, but no...

ChasingSquirrelsUpTheXmasTree · 22/12/2007 13:41

again - about 21mo?
he is 23mo now and says the first sylabal of his name, the first sylabal of his brothers name, da and again
