lol bigape
mine are all good scottish names too (see few posts down) middle names are Patrick (family name), Angus (yes, we used it too early, were not expecting a number 3 at the time!) and Cameron.

i always fancied the hell out of scottish men (that accent...phwooooaaarrr), so i thought id bring a few more into the world for the next generation to enjoy

FoghornLeghorn · 24/08/2007 08:31

We have 2 DD's but our boy options were Finley & Jude.

I am still waiting for my boy

Xavielli · 24/08/2007 08:58

My DS is Xavier.

If it would have been purely up to me I would have had a Samuel, William or a Zachariah.

Hows about Torquil or Hector for all you Scottish loving mummies out there ?

minouminou · 04/09/2007 20:09

how about Urbain? We called our little boy (now 10.5 months old) Urbain Henrik. Urban's the Scando version of the name, and Urbain is the French version - it's a bit old-fashioned, and isn't pronounced urban as in opposite of rural - it's "urr-BAN", with the stress on "ban".
It's Latin originally, and means 'city-dweller", or "from the city".
Raised a few eyebrows - and a few tempers - but everyone's grown to love it. It's great when people (we live in Oxford, so lots of people from all four corners of globe) pronounce it in the Scandinavian or eastern European way of "Oooerban".
With any luck, your little'un will live up to his name, as it also means well mannered and - errr - urbane!

Emzy5 · 04/09/2007 20:14

Our little lad is 12 weeks old now. We called him Callan. (Elliott James as middles). It really suits him! (and I've never heard of another Callan!)

snowkitten · 04/09/2007 20:45

Dominic James over here! I eventually chose it by preceding it with Doctor..... It seemed to fit rather well

tron · 12/09/2007 22:23

DS is Ewan
my nephews are Ieuan David (pronounced Yiyan) and Finn

DD is Erin, if she was a boy it was Gregor or Lochlan

jellybrain · 13/09/2007 22:37

Wow Catkinsamummynow I've got a Callan he's 10. You're only the second one I've come across which is pretty amazing as we thought we'd made it up (liked the beginning of Callum but not the end) - obviously not. Subsequently found out that its a town somewhere in Ireland and of course the 70's TV detective played by Edward Woodward.

You are absolutely right of course its a brilliant name and he won't have to share it with 1/2 a doz others as he goes through school -

seeker · 13/09/2007 22:48

Patrick John Garnet.
Garnet is after my father - and if anyone on here can expain to me why a baby born in Queensland in 1918 was christened Garnet, I would be delighted. He didn't seem to know - there is no one left in the family who knows, it's not a family name.....it's a mystery. But it makes a pretty good third name, I think!
