FUNNY THINGS THAT KIDS SAY.......(or is it just my kids...?)

Hi All,
I'm really new to mumsnet - I've got 3 children and have only just stumbled across it - I've obviously been missing out!!
Anyway, I just thought I would share this with you :- yesterday my 7 yr old daughter came home from school and told me that they had to draw a picture of Henry ville. 'Henry Ville??' I asked - 'I've never heard of him'. 'Well' she said, 'He's a very famous person in history'. I thought for a moment and suddenly it clicked 'Do you mean Henry VIII?'
It turned out to be Henry VIII after all, but she'd obviously read the roman numerals as 'vill' - bless her! It was so funny!

Also, a my eldest daughter (who was 3 at the time) was playing on our front lawn with next doors 3yr old son whilst I was pruning the rosebush (ok....yanking out a few weeds). There was a bit of a heated discussion going on which basically consisted of my daughter saying 'I DO' and next doors son shouting back 'NO YOU DON'T'. After a few minutes my daughter stomped over to me and said 'Mummy, Dean says that girls don't have willies, but they do cos I've got a red pair' - Needless to say - she was referring to her new, shiny WELLIES!!!!

Anyone elses children come out with any amusing little jems?

Bye for now,
Nikki

talking to my dd1 (then 3) about octopusses.
I said 'how many legs have they got?'
dd1 'ten'
me 'no they've got eight'
dd1' no mummy, it's ten. My teacher said they've got ten tickles'
lol!

bakedpotatooooowoooh · 04/10/2006 14:51

DD, looking in a kaleidescope, said it was 'all melty-coloured'

I especially like 'twenty past bubbly' and 'No mummy it's in the sky'

fubsy · 04/10/2006 22:23

Little lad I know said today "We're going to see if Nana's ready". "what's nana doing?" I asked. "She's dead......."

twoisenoughmum · 04/10/2006 23:25

Recently we were all in the car coming back from a late afternoon run around the park, necessitated by DD (5.9) and DS (3) having cabin fever from being cooped up in the house for the whole of a long rainy day. For no particular reason, I said out loud "I'm Hungry". Short pause then DD says "I'm Sleepy". Another short pause and DS pipes up "I'm Sweaty". At which point DH felt he had no choice but to add "I'm Bashful".

DeathwatchBeetle73 · 04/10/2006 23:28

DD (26 mths) looked at a wet bench last sunday, then made a put-out face and said 'why you do that rain?'

billiejo · 04/10/2006 23:39

my 2.9year old ds piped up "come on mum, lets get ready to rumble" when we were leaving the house today, my dh says it to me and i think he must have overheard at some point!! (smile)

Albert · 05/10/2006 01:39

My DS (6) announced the other day that I was 'mad as a pancake'...what???

CaptainCavemansMummy · 05/10/2006 07:08

My neice (3.9) particularly enjoys cockolate (chocolate).

Ds (2.5) has only just stopped saying willies instead of wellies (sad, because it was v cute!).

Ds also likes to say night-night to everyone and everything. Last night
me: come on, get your nappy on
ds: night-night ding-dong (willy)

Ds sat on my knee at present asking for tubby tubbies (teletubbies),
me: one more minute
ds: (looking at screen) You made a mess mummy. (clearly mn screen not exciting enough for him!)

Jaffacake1 · 06/10/2006 17:43

I used to call rabbits 'labtits'
and our piano the 'nan-poo'
and my cousin Richard 'Sherdit'

my dd is too young to talk yet, but she coincidentally cheered when dh's football team scored on tv, to our amazement (she's only 3mths)

cane · 06/10/2006 22:09

my dh and i were telling dd1 (2.3) what beautiful hair she has after her bath and she very seriously said "yes, mummy, bottom hair' (!!)

Sunnysideup · 06/10/2006 22:46

my ds (four and just started reception year) told me today that he wanted to kill both his teachers, and then he would be in charge, and he would thump all the children.

Oh, how I laughed!!!! little angel!!!!

[what have I given birth to and raised emoticon]

MamaGhoul · 06/10/2006 23:20

my DS age 2 cheerily shouted "bye Daddy" to the man in the shop today

We larfed, but I said "don't worry, you're not, haha" in a nervous manner (idiot)

I actually fancy him as well which makes it worse

mamamaaargh · 07/10/2006 03:11

DS was playing with a till at playgroup this morning. When he pushed the button with a cup on it and the till yelled "One crappy cola, coming up!"

SleepIsForTheWeak · 07/10/2006 05:10

A sad but also sweet story:

My friend's BIL had passsed away very unexpectedly and she was trying to explain to her 3YO DD what had happened and told her that her uncle's time on earth was finished and he had gone to live with the angels.

Her DD looked thoughtful and replied, "Mummy, when my time on earth is finished, can I go and live with Winnie the Pooh?"

awwwww

ClarissasMerrylegs · 10/10/2006 12:24

bump

I love these little stories

fortyplus · 10/10/2006 13:29

I love all those things that kids say...
My no.1 son is 12 now, but he talked very early. I've got 18 month gap to No.2. Both mine were breast-fed babies, so no.1 started referring to my boobs as 'feeders' ie for feeding the baby. When they were little it was quite an effort to get them out to the local swimming pool - I always went in the communal changing room as there wasn't enough room in a cubicle and there were only 2 'family' changing rooms (usually occupied by people with one 4 year old, but don't get me started on that!)One day another mum was also getting changed in the open area and my son - aged about 2 - shouted out at the top of his voice 'LOOK MUMMY! THAT LADY'S GOT SIMPLY ENORMOUS FEEDERS!'
Luckily she thought it was very funny - I can laugh about it now, but at the time I wanted the ground to open and swallow me!

pinkdolly · 10/10/2006 15:03

my dd2 is always coming out with stuff. She is 3 and says willies instead of wellies. She likes to tell everyone that the baby eats my boobies.

Her biggest thing at the moment is her sense of smell, it seems to be quite acute. We were in tesco's the other day and there was a bad smell lingering. DD2 shouted at the top of her voice, "mummy do you need a poo-poo?" of course i said no, to which she replied "what's that smell then?". Am sure everyone must have thought that I made the smell.

sockmonkey · 11/10/2006 09:27

DS1 (age 3) sniffed my DH's feet and said "Urgh cheesy toilets".

The best one was when we were on holiday with his grandma when he was 2. We were going through animal noises with him (what does cow say Moo etc)
Dh asked waht noise does Grandma make, thinking he would say something nice... but he just made a really loud snoreing sound.

staceym11 · 11/10/2006 10:27

my dd (not quite 2) the other day

dd: 'mummy i poo'
me: 'did you do a poo?'
dd: 'no'
dd: 'mummy i poo'
me: 'did you do a poo?'
dd: 'no'
dd: 'mummy i poo again!'
me: ' oh no sweetie you farted, its ok'
dd: 'i farted!!!!

sockmonkey · 11/10/2006 13:01

hehehehe

Tili · 11/10/2006 15:01

My dd 4 recently asked one of my best friends why she had hair on top of her lip!! I was mortified so promptly went to make a coffee so I could lmao in private!!

MissyBabee · 11/10/2006 16:21

god, these are SO brilliant, LOL - made my afternoon!

wakeupandsmellthecoffee · 11/10/2006 16:51

emberessing . My Ds who is 7 answered a question and finished the answer off with the word dickhead. I asked him if he knew what it meant ,obviously he didnt . So I explained that dick was another word for penis and so he was calling me a penis head and that wasnt very nice so he must never say it again . He then said would it be more polite to call you a willy head then .

Bodkin · 11/10/2006 18:26

Came downstairs this morning to find DD crying in the kitchen. When i asked her what the matter is she said "i tripped over a cornflake". Must've been awful for her, poor thing....

wakeupandsmellthecoffee · 11/10/2006 19:52

god help her if she tripped on a weetabix . LOL
