dd2 (7) is passionate about wildlife, particularly snakes. She is not very academic (unlike her older sister) but it's so lovely to hear her enthuse about her favourite subject, particularly as she is so knowledgeable!

Tell me some other passions ....

My 2 year old db loves dinosaurs and we took him to a museum in oxford with full sixe skeletons on his birthday. He walked into this really quiet room and shouted a the top of his voice "BIG DINOSAUR!"
Other than that he likes stones(!)
DD (3) is just passioniate about telling her brother what to do!

bananaloaf · 01/09/2006 21:09

ds1 cars, cars, cars, police cars, cars metinks a joyrider in the making

AmandaP · 01/09/2006 21:11

DD (who is 7.5) is passionate about horses (as I was at her age, and indeed, still am!)

DS (who is v. nearly 10) - passionate about history. He would be passionate about the playstation / computer but I don't give him the chance

fattiemumma · 01/09/2006 21:11

ds is (nearly) 6 and is mad about dinosaurs. he can name pretty much all of them even the ones i have no idea about.
he will watch a cartoon and will say things like thats a rubbish XXXXXsaurus.
he is loving the prehistoric park at the moment.

I take him to the natural history museum quite a lot and he can name them all.

DD is (nealry) 2 and is just passionate about the word NO!

enemy · 01/09/2006 21:22

DS 7.8 has had a few passions in life so far. Thomas tha Tank was a mega major part of his life followed by (and still is) passionate about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Thats been ongoing for 3 years now and also for the lat two years it is also Spongebob Squarepants. Wish is was something more life enhancing but hey hes happy!

Ds is 3.6 and crazy about irrigation systems. His favourite places are the zoo, the wildlife reserve and the botanic gardens because they all have extensive natural and man made water systems. He knows where each tap, water fountain, sprayer and hosepipe is in any season.

pedilia · 01/09/2006 21:36

Ds1 cars and DS2 diggers, neither have followed my passion for horses

LiliLaTigresse · 01/09/2006 21:38

dd (7) loves reading, animals in general and Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy
she also loves lemon ice-cream

nearlythree · 01/09/2006 21:38

Dds 1&2 (aged 4 & 2) are both into tractors, traction engines, steam engines, diggers. Totally odd as neither dh nor I have the slightest interest.

southeastastra · 01/09/2006 21:39

southeastastra · 01/09/2006 21:40

Greensleeves · 01/09/2006 21:42

ds1 (3.11) - trains, planets/stars, weather, maps.

ds2 (2.0) - gnomes, boats, hats

Posey · 01/09/2006 21:43

Ds is into wheels, on cars, diggers, trains, in the science museum ("wow mummy, look at this fascinating machine and its wheels" (well he didn't say fascinating but it was a really tedious bit of the museum!) He's 3.8
Dd (9.2) is passionate about getting some freedom and independence. We're working on it.

Thomcat · 01/09/2006 21:48

DD1 is 4.5 with special needs.
Her passions seem to be:

Charlie & Lola. I'm Charlie, she's Lola and DD2 is Sizzles.

Sharks. She sees them all the time and I have to be careful where I tread!

Dogs - she sees them all the time too. The manager in Next spun round and was looking for one the other day as she convincingly shouted 'oh no, DOG, look' at absolutley nothing!

Harry Potter - or as she says Harry Hotter. She points to te sky 12 times a day shouting 'hello harry hotter'.

God she cracks me up!

mad4girls · 01/09/2006 21:49

dd1 totally girly nail polish and make up but dd2 is bit of a tomboy loves bugs and animals and being dirty

madmarchhare · 01/09/2006 21:50

Anything with wheels.
Books.

Thomcat · 01/09/2006 21:50

We spend virtually the whole day like this

DD1 - "Charlie"
Me - "yes Lola"
DD1 - 'allo Charlie"
Me - "hello Lola'

1 second pause

DD1 - "Charlie"
Me - "yes Lola"
DD1 - 'allo Charlie"
Me - "hello Lola'

1 second pause

DD1 - "Charlie"
Me - "yes Lola"
DD1 - 'allo Charlie"
Me - "hello Lola'

and so on for pretty much the next hour! A pause for lunch and continue!

Elibean · 01/09/2006 21:57

dd is 2.8 and is passionate about her Cat (soft toy) and Diego (as in Dora). I get to be Dora and dh is Boots

Mercy · 01/09/2006 22:00

ds, 2.5, is passionate about vehicles of any description but especially diggers and dumpers.

To the extent that upon waking his first words are often "Where digger?" He is also loves the ancient synthesiser/electric piano thing we bought. He will spend a good hour or so banging out 'tunes'

dd, 5.4, is passionate about pink clothes, fairies, princesses etc. But is also mad keen on doing collages and painting. Wants to be a fashion designer or artist when she grows up - but she will be the boss in the shop, apparently.

Both are currently mad keen on space, dr who, space rockets, aliens etc - and Jesus!

Miaou · 01/09/2006 22:03

DS2 (12m) is passionate about dancing....

southeastastra · 01/09/2006 22:05

this thread is so good, it seems children like what they like from such an early age

Pollyanna · 01/09/2006 22:06

At the moment ds (7)is obsessed with Raven and The Chuckle Brothers.

When it is not school holidays and he doesn't watch so much television, he is really into history. He devours the Horrible History books.
