Where i used to live i saw advertised in the SW edition of families magazine - MANDARIN CHINESE for pre-schoolers !!!! I kid you not.

I missed out on that one but did tumble tots, whippersnappers, toddler french.... Total nob, these days I think DS2 is lucky if he gets to go to the park as opposed to accompanying me to the supermarket.

Baby yoga is for first time mums who have babies and don't know they'll be fine at growing up into people if they just leave them to it. They think they need to do stuff with them when all they should be doing is going for lunch with friends and dangling the occasional toy in their baby's direction.

stoppinattwo · 05/07/2006 22:16

WTF is prolly??

spinamum · 05/07/2006 22:33

I've tried to read this thread, but I only got a bit into it before The tears started streaming down my face.

I was one of those FTMs. I wouldn't change it for one moment. Baby massage helped me to rid my DS of really bad constipation at four weeks and where else would I be able to see five babies aged between 5 and 8 weeks being dangled by their ankles by their sleep deprived Mums and Dads(yes both parents!) my son was excluded from this activity because he was the"baby" of the group.

Now my lovely mates have become FTMs and I can watch in bemusement as They do exactly the same and talk of their childrens potential!

As I said though, I'd do it all again, just not with No 2.

I only did all my "classes" to meet other sleep deprived parents anyway.(But the tummy massage was REALLY REALLY good to sort out that poo!)

CristinaTheAstonishing · 05/07/2006 23:12

Dean, I think baby swim may increase the risk of asthma only if it's in chlorine pools.

Lots of these classes are taken in the hope of meeting other parents. It's true that you meet others but I wonder how many friendships are formed this way. Or maybe it's just me, I shouldn't have missed all those swimming classes I paid for.

justamum · 06/07/2006 00:55

at first class with ds when ftm was told to "ask baby's permission to massage him!!!" how would i have known if he'd said no! Is this normal? i have failed to ask him on subsequent occasions, is this why he is a little bugger now he is 2.6? Have I infringed on his personal space??

kitbit · 06/07/2006 02:28

umm, yes on the feet does make a difference... reflexology-wise all your innards are related by nerve pathways on your feet which is why a reflexologist can mess with your feet to treat a condition without touching the actual area. Same with digestive system, if you put your feet side by side and draw a circle across both soles under the arch bit that's where your digestive system is reflected so working it in a clockwise direction has the same effect as massaging the actual tummy like that. Don't know exactly how it works but it really really does! Don't shoot me (scuttles for cover)
