Hi all, come and tell me what your 2year old said to you today.
My child is a late talker and I just want a snap shot of what other 2yr olds are capable of saying.
Plus it's cute to read what they come out with!
Thanks In advance

"I want to do the numbers" x2

Then we had to look at, and name, the numbers on every house we passed. Hmm

We do this a lot. [bored]

What else?

"This is Christine's shop."

"I don't want to go home, I want to go to Teeny Weenies." (crying)

"Can you peel my orange?"

LargeGlassofRed · 06/06/2012 23:33

Dt1 - I a, big huggle mumma :)
And dt2
when I wouldn't let him have ice cream for breakfast
I kill you up in a post box mummy, said in a very cross voice.
For some reason when he's cross he always says, he'll put you in a post box? I have no idea where it came from.

MuckingFuddle · 07/06/2012 00:26

DT's are nearly 2.

DT2 said "DT1 hair ooooooooh" DT1 pulled his hair
DT1 said "DT2 bit bit ahhhhhhh" DT2 bit him.
Other things have been - Shoes on, mud, Beecies (CBeebies), toast, lana (banana)and phone Nanny.

'Daddy stink poo poo'
'You two'
'Din dins'

And loads of animal noises. He's 2 and a half years old. Doesn't say much

ThisIsMummyPig · 07/06/2012 02:29

DD1 hurt me
Sleep DD1 bed ....DD1 sleep my cot.....Sleep DD1 bed, I sleep middle (as in both together, ongoing obsession with sleeping in same bed)
Drik (drink) please
Ka Ku (thank you)
tater (potato) please

She can make her point known, but only if you know her well - her sentances are a maximum of four words, and lack structure. I think she is about average. her sister though was in full, gramatically correct sentances at this age (at her 2 year test she told bloke about a sparrowhawk on the washing line, knew her name and address and so on.)

Remember at 2 they only expect you to be able to join two words together.

FuckedOfftotheFarSideofFuck · 07/06/2012 02:43

Dank oo, Mummy
Hallo Daddy
Noisy

(he's not quite 2 yet but close enough!)

rednellie · 07/06/2012 05:21

"And now Mummy, I going to jump in the puddle." Of piss. Which she'd done with great pride whilst I was bf our twins. And then she jumped. Hmm

"Daddy, I want to show you something." Says this alot to get you to pay attention to her.

"I have mangoes on my shoulders." She didn't, not sure what that was all about. Grin

She's talked since she was 9 months old, but is very very average for physical stuff. Apart from jumping enthusiastically in puddles of her pee. Again Hmm

hazeyjane · 07/06/2012 05:47

ds is 2 next month, he has no speech at all.

Yesterday he made his 'uh,uh,uh' noise a lot, but he also tried to sign 'thankyou' and 'cow', and blow a kiss!

DharmaBumpkin · 07/06/2012 05:59

DD is 2.3

NO Mummy I too busy.
This stohbewwy (strawberry) mah best friend. I hold it in mah handie.
I need a more stohbewwy Mummy. Lots more. A biggest one.
(Playing with shells) I like a dis one. I put it on da floor. It inna line, more shells, all in a line.

Among many others... According to my parents she is quite chatty though although they phrase it 'does she ever stop talking?! '

Sparklingbrook · 07/06/2012 06:54

Oh this thread is lovely. Sob. It was eleven years ago that I first had a 2 year old. He loved windmills and had a little collection stuck in the garden. He used to stand there saying 'round and rounds'.

Envy at having 2 year olds.

Ozziegirly · 07/06/2012 06:57

My DS is a couple of months off 2 and we mainly get;

Big truck, big car, post box, bin truck, fire truck, all done (when I am just starting nappy change, said in a vaguely threatening way), more crackers mummy, I want apple, NO mummy, NO daddy, oh dear, truck, big truck, daddy sock, mummy sock, bus, big bus.

He very rarely puts more than 2 words together at this stage and has only started doing that in the last month or so.

brightonbleach · 07/06/2012 09:35

mine is 2 and a half, at 2 he had a handful of words, was definately a late talker, more physical than chatty. it all comes in a burst I've found and he loves to sing songs like wheels on the bus over and over start to finish, lots of verses. today so far he has said "oh no, I made a metss", counted backwards from 10 with "blast oft!" at the end, "yellow bird, white hotel" (reference to a favourite story), "my bed", "want elefun, want elefun WANT ELEFUN", looked out the window and said "oh look, a rainbow/birdie/cloud/uh oh its raining", "oh dear oh dear", "my table yummy" and finally "oh look a winkie!!" when his night nappy came off and proceeded to say this sentence 4/5 times whilst grabbing said object. so proud Hmm

AngelDog · 07/06/2012 09:37

DS is 2.5 and very chatty, though his speech is not very distinct and not as 'sophisticated' as some of his peers. He's said:

"Y is for yummy, y y y."

"Mummy help put lady in dumper truck."

"Those in dumper truck. Onions. Onions be taked away. Onions taking away. Be dumped in a different place. Carrots and your onions. Big heavy onions. Rolling rolling rolling. Take them away and be dumped."

Thelobsterswife · 07/06/2012 09:40

I missed you today mummy! Aaaaaah! Although not sure she knows what it means!
She went to nursery! She was a very late talker - no real words at all at 2 but has been making up for it ever since. She will be 3 next month.

katylou25 · 07/06/2012 09:44

ds3 - just turned 2.

Very very chatty and sociable - although not very physical only walked couple of weeks before his 2nd birthday.

No nappy mummy, I sit potty (fetches potty) No wee wee mummy potty away I get potty - repeat repeat in attempt to avoid getting dressed.

Trousers on mummy, no want socks no socks

where ds2, ds2 downstairs mummy DS2 Ds2 at top of voice upstairs ds2

breakfast time mummy, where daddy? daddy gone work, daddy go car? daddy go bike??

and so on and so on he does not stop talking - apart from when he's gawping at cbeebvies!

FetchezLaVache · 07/06/2012 09:45

When asked if he wanted a cuddle, DS (2.1) replied "I'm not quite sure". (He still got one though...)

CelticRepublican · 07/06/2012 09:51

DS is getting on for 3 and his speech had come in a burst since Christmas, he had hardly any words when he turned 2.

The best thing he said yesterday was " Mummy I want to give you a giant giant cuddle". And he did. Grin

Flisspaps · 07/06/2012 09:56

She hasn't really spoken to me today, she's been too busy dragging her grandad around telling him 'good pulling' and asking 'where's that come from?' whilst pointing at various things.

fluffyanimal · 07/06/2012 09:57

DS is 3 in August. today he amused me when I dropped him off at nursery and one of his friends waved hello to him, and he looked at her scornfully for a moment, then said, "Willow, take that toy out your mouth!" (she was chewing on a train.)
At the moment he's also going through a phase of saying "My mummy make me really really happy." Grin

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 07/06/2012 09:58

DS: Let's do registration, I'll be Jenny (key worker at nursery), good morning Cailin, good morning Gracie, good morning Ella, good morning Mummy.

Me: good morning Jenny

DS: now let's see who is looking, whose name is this? (holds up a sticker from a tool shop)

Me: (raises hand) that's mine Jenny! (goes ove to collect it)

DS: spell your name Mummy

Me: (spells name phonetically and puts said strike on "the wall")

Repeat about 30 times

Plus the usual Thursday morning conversation about not wanting to go to nursery even though he hasn't been in since last Thursday! Little tyke

stressheaderic · 07/06/2012 10:04

My DD is 2.3 and let's just say she's never been the shy or retiring type.

We had a police officer call yesterday after an attempted break-in, all burly with radio going off etc. I told her to stay in the lounge. She burst into the hallway and said to him "Hello postman, I watching Ben and Holly at mummy's house!"

This morning on the way to nursery, we were singing 'It's raining, it's pouring' and at the end, she said 'he just went back to bed, didn't he mummy!'.

Very cocky spirited, my child.

festivalwidow · 07/06/2012 10:06

DD is 2.2 and never stops.
Morning - mummy's in the shower! I had a pee - now I have a shower too - no, the water's really hot. I need to get my coat - teddy bear is going for a sleep now - want breakfast - want apricots on it - please can I have apricots on it - want water in there - please can I have water in the teapot? - not to the blind up, the books are asleep and want to be in the dark. I go and jump up and down now. I'm jumping! I'm jumping! Not get dressed yet, I've got my jammies on. Ooh, I'm wearing a cardigan. I've got lots of hairbands! Not downstairs, upstairs. I bump downstairs. We go to nursery tomorrow. All the hairbands are in the pushchair. Want this one. Want this one as well. Daddy's gone to work - poor daddy... but he's be better soon.
All this took place in the space of five minutes and continued in the same vein for 200 years another hour, at which point I dropped her off at nursery (still talking)
Brew Brew Brew

TheSurgeonsMate · 07/06/2012 10:10

"Well done Mummy"

Why, thanks, child. 'Twas nothing, really.

Katiepoes · 07/06/2012 11:55

My just-turned-two year old shouted 'jackass' from the back of the car and fell about laughing. I am not proud if myself.
