DS1 was obsessed with windmills. He had a collection in the garden. 'roundandround'-was one of his first words.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 05/03/2012 12:54

Ds's first word was...dirty! Blush

DS1's was Argos Blush it came from my efforts to be a perfect mummy too, as we spent hours using the catalogue as a picture book "teaching" the names of household items. Long before he said Mum or Dad he would shout Argos when a lorry went past - shows the power of branding too, as I suspect he couldn't actually read it Grin

PriscillaQueenOfTheDesert · 05/03/2012 13:01

At 18 months ds1 said nothing.

At 17 months ds2 says (in order from first word)

No
Up-stairs
What's that
What's this
Bubble bath
Woof (for tiger, obviously Hmm)
Dada
Mama

It's good to see the things that are more important than mama. Grin

SpankyMcSparrow · 05/03/2012 13:02

ilooklikegrotbagstoday · 05/03/2012 13:06

DS1's first word was cock (clock) too. Grandparents are swiss and have cookoo clocks everywhere in the house and he was fancinated by them.

inmysparetime · 05/03/2012 13:11

DS - tea
DD - mumum (sadly she didn't mean me, she meant my boobs)
DS's first letters were B and Q, guess where fromWink

thegreylady · 05/03/2012 14:03

Dgs1 shoes (soos) and cat (tat) both at around 11 months.

ronx · 05/03/2012 14:04

DD (18 months) has yet to say a single word Blush Blush

meredeux · 05/03/2012 17:13

tigger then pooh then daddy then Mummy.

DS2 could only say "mum" until he was 2 1/2.

lesstalkmoreaction · 05/03/2012 17:17

DD1 said Ball, DS3 Said Tesco!!! I can't remember the other 2.

StuckUpTheFezziwigTree · 05/03/2012 17:28

Not many yet. DD2 is 16 months and says:

Mummy
Daddy
Eese (for Eve)
Jarji (for Jo Jo)
See ya
Ta
Meel (for milk)
Chock-ock (chocolate)
Baby

CailinDana · 05/03/2012 17:50

DS is 14 months and his words in order of appearance are:

Nana (for banana)
Cat (fascinated with the cats, can't say the feeling is mutual)
Dada
Hiya
No
Yeah
Mam
Go

He understands a lot more than that, so much so that we have to spell "bath" or he'll go mental wanting to have a bath.

spamm · 05/03/2012 17:52

DS's first words were:

Ouga - a variation on our dog's name
Hello
Ta
Mommy
Daddy

lessthanfrugalshopper · 05/03/2012 17:58

Oh thank you all for the brilliant examples!!

I find it really fascinating how children all have such different things that they must attach importance to at this age.....and how some just love to chat away and others are the opposite and feel the use of words uneccesary at this stage (but undoubtably understand soooooo much Smile.

Keep them coming!

CotherMuckingFunt · 05/03/2012 19:41

Ds said 'gogglygog'. That may not be an actual word but I could understand what he was saying by the different intonations after him saying only that for 3 months.

AnonymousBird · 05/03/2012 19:44

DS has always been a good eater greedy as hell so his first words were

"Mo" ("more")
and
"Ga gon" ("all gone").

Mama and dada came waaaaaaaay later. We know where we are in the pecking order. 7 years on, not a lot has changed!

ilovesprouts · 05/03/2012 19:47
