dd's was 'cat'- although it sounded nothing like cat at first but we all knew what she meant. Followed by 'hiya' them 'mamam' and 'dadad'

PrincessPrecious · 06/03/2012 11:59

DD, who will be 11 months in a few days says:

Hiya
Dadda
Teddy
Yes
That? (when sees a new thing, or just randomly)
Book (likes to play with books for some odd reason)

I know she is early with first words but she makes up for it by refusing to crawl or try to pull up/walk and will be one next month. Still hasn't said Mama yet.

MamaMary · 06/03/2012 16:16

My DD's first word was Jodie (cat's name).

Followed by:

Daddy
Mumma

18mo now and says most of the common examples given here. And some randoms:

Light
Door
New shoes
Walk
Hat, top, socks
Strawberries, cheese, porridge, milk, pasta, bread, water....

Actually loads more that I can't be bother listing - she's not doing too badly for her age.

mrspepperpotty · 06/03/2012 18:13

DS1: cat
DD: shoes
DS2: look

perceptionreality · 06/03/2012 18:14

I only remember dd3's which was 'no'

ihearttc · 06/03/2012 19:36

DS2 is 15 months and says:

Mum mum
Dad Dad
Cat
Car
Hiya
Nan
Narna(banana)
Bub (which we think is brother for DS1)

His first word was Cat...as he was frantically crawling after our cat!

DS1 has really bad glue ear and until he had his tonsils/adenoids out at 2.5 couldn't say anything...I actually sobbed the first time he said a word that was totally clear and I could understand it! So even though DS2 probably isn't that great at talking he seems so much better than his brother was...DS1 is 7 now and never ever shuts up!

Napdamnyou · 06/03/2012 19:48

DS is almost 15 months and says 'no' a lot as of this week.
His first distinct word was HOOVER! Said at 11.5 months.
He still loves the cheap red noisy Hoover desperately.

Also says
Ma (milk)
Ba (ball)
Ca (cat)
Mamma and Dadda
And 'spazma' which is splash mat,

But Hoover remains the only word which a stranger would recognise.
He babbles the whole time though.

blackoutthesun · 06/03/2012 19:55

dd was 10 months and i remember calling her a bugger, she turned and looked at me and said 'baba'

at 11 months we get
baba Blush
dada
mama
ta
ball

headfairy · 06/03/2012 19:56

Apart from dadda and mummmmmmummmm....

Ds's first word was bus
Dd's was shoooooes.

Nice to see the gender divide starts early then!

BionicEmu · 07/03/2012 16:10

DS is almost 17months and said his first word yesterday - fish! While pointing to nana's tropical fishtank.

Imagine my surprise when we were out in the garden this morning and he started stamping up and down doing his excited dance while pointing and shouting "fish!" at the goldfish in the pond! Grin

hyperotreti · 07/03/2012 18:21

dd1 - milk
ds1 - duck/star/apple all came together at about 13 months then he didn't really say much more until he was 3.5
dd2 - other (the other side when she was breastfeeding!)
ds2 - we're waiting with baited breath!

slowginny · 07/03/2012 21:02

11mo and it was mamamamama.

I really really loved her so much just then (and do now I might add)

Takver · 07/03/2012 21:12

about 16 mo and it was Hat (or rather 'At)

We lived in spain at the time, dd is fair skinned and I was, just possibly, rather obsessed with making sure she wore her sunhat whenever she went outside Blush

naturalbaby · 07/03/2012 22:43

my 13month old says "go go go!" when the green man beeps at a crossing
car car, cu(p), ca(t)
dear dear dear (oh dear....not feeling well)

gaelicsheep · 07/03/2012 22:45

Apart from Dada, first word was "poo", at about 15 months. First recognisable word that wasn't just baby sounds. She pointed at her nappy at the same time - I was well impressed! There was no stopping her from then on, new words nearly every day.

DS's first word was "ba" (bath)

GhastlyBespoke · 07/03/2012 22:45

DS first word was Daddy

DDs was Cake. Grin

Ozziegirly · 08/03/2012 03:05

DS said dada at about 10 months then nothing but mama and dada for a couple of months. A big spurt of words at 13 months (car, ball, book, frog, cado (avocado), milk, shoe, sock, foot, head, flower, more, down etc etc) then a big spurt again recently (18 months) and he can now copy what we say so we get new words almost every day. This week we've had; purple, penis, keys, turtle, broom and a few of his friend's names.

None together yet apart from "All gone" and "More please"

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 08/03/2012 10:19

DS is 17 months and says:

Dada
Bubba (Means Mama - struggles with his M's and N's)
Gone
Stuck
Duck
Doggy
Got it
Stop it
No
Juice
Bye Bye
Car
Mickey (as in mouse!)

And a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head! The little git never shuts up! Grin

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 08/03/2012 10:19

Oh and "Please" and "Pardon"

DameFlatYouLent · 08/03/2012 12:16

at 16m DS says
"no" - usually whilst doing the thing he shouldn't be doing
"yeah" - as a response to all questions. We have highly amusing conversations. I have to get my jollies somewhere innit
"bu-bye" when the person/thing is out of eyeline & earshot
"raarrrr" - is what all animals say Hmm He used to be able to do a very sweet donkey noise but appears to have regressed
"brrm brrm" for anything with wheels.
"doo doo" for train (choo choo)

Absolutely no sign of mama/dada. Sigh.

dinkystinkyandveryverybored · 08/03/2012 12:19

ds1: boo (for book), ball, hmm toast, mummy and gaggy (daddy)

ds2: mama, lulu (his nanny), no mine, nummy (yummy) and dosh (Josh)

ohmygosh123 · 08/03/2012 12:51

"mama' then "dada" then "more", and then a long pause before she needed any other words - DD liked her food, and "more" did the job quite nicely thankyou. But people did think we were trying to secretly starve her Grin The kind of kid that climbed up on the table at 18mths and devoured the fruit bowl in other people's houses and then said 'more' Blush.

rrreow · 08/03/2012 14:48

DS (10 months) has been saying 'dadadada' for ages and 'mumumumum' for a few months but without actual meaning. SadlyHmm his actual first word the other day was 'byebye' while waving to my S-I-L :o

IHeartKingThistle · 08/03/2012 14:50

DD - yeah

DS - uh-oh

There you have my children in a nutshell Grin

flapjack77 · 08/03/2012 15:29

DS1s was tractor (FIL is a farmer so DH was always pointing them out), closely followed by nana (banana). He's now 2.1 and a right parrot, DH swore in front of him the other day whilst visiting family, needless to say DS copied him! He got into trouble for that one (DH that is Grin)
