What do people think? I think Freddy is lovely as a shortening, and we don't like Frederica.

I like the name. In my class when i was little, there was a boy an a girl with that name. The boy was spelt lique your version and the girl was Frederique.

3plusbump · 21/06/2010 11:58

erm? No!

seeker · 21/06/2010 11:58

Oh, ffs!

AvengingGerbil · 21/06/2010 12:00

I fyou like Freddie for a girl, you need to go with Winifred as the forename. Frederick for a girl (however spelled) is ludicrouse.

piratecat · 21/06/2010 12:04

don't be daft.

why would you prefer Frederica to Frederick if you're not even going to call her it anyway.

piratecat · 21/06/2010 12:05

Freda?

scurryfunge · 21/06/2010 12:06

No that's a tortoise name,piratecat

gorionine · 21/06/2010 12:07

nothing unusual in being called Frederique for a girl in France or Switzerland. Maybe not in England? I do not know but I like it.

Cortina · 21/06/2010 12:08

You mean Frederique as others have said? I have French and Dutch friends with this name, known as a jaunty 'Fred' for short in both cases, like a lot.

kimbles1984 · 21/06/2010 12:09

oh yes, Freda is much better

piratecat · 21/06/2010 12:10

lol tortoise

Cortina · 21/06/2010 12:12

What about Frederica? Wasn't there a children's book about a very naughty Frederica or have I just made that up?

Cortina · 21/06/2010 12:13

Sorry, OP, just seen you are not a fan of Frederica.

I once knew a Phaedra whose name was shortened to Fred!
