Amelia Rose XXXXXXX known as Millie

i think its quite pretty but a couple of people have given me looks and one even said, dont you think thats a little chavy??

i really didnt think it was, so what do you all think?

I like it. I don't think it's at all 'chavvy'.

I don't think its chavvy, but its probably quite common - as in popular.

i'm not that fussed about it being unique.
i grew up with a unique name and always got really upset when we went to musiems/toursty places and i couldnt get a ruler/pencil/book with my name on!

my fil doesnt like the idea of us giving a child a name and then not using it so naming her amelia but calling her millie. anyone have any thoughts on this?

I like it, it's pretty but it des seem to be a popular name atm.

Nothing wrong with having nn's imo.

I'm not normally a fan of nicknames but in this case I think it's a good thing that she has a more formal name that she can use. I like Millie but I wouldn't use it as a first name on the birth certificate.

I like Amelia a lot. I think it's a great name. Rose however is a very popular middle name. I love Millie as a nn name.

Maybe Amelia with a different middle name?

WHAT????? It is NOT chavvy in the slightest-quite the opposite and I work in private school with very upper middle class children - lovely name!

Not unless you're planning on spelling it Ameeliyaa-Roehse or something! It's lovely. Ignore the naysayers.

Lovely - and I would give Amelia if you want to use Millie as the latter could be a little girlie for when she is older.

My friend has an Amelia and she has never struck me as a chav. It's a lovely name.

It's not chavvy, but she may be one of several in her class. There are two in DS1's year 4 class, and one Emelia Rose too. FWIW, DS1 is Jack, and one of six in his year. Do I care? Not at all.

Our lovely grandaughter is Amelia Violet (smile) nn Millie certainly not chavvy.

On the posh side if anything, rather than chavvy. Millie also more posh than chavvy IMO.

Millie is cute, definitely give the full name Amelia. XXX Rose is done to death. I was going to name DS XXX Rose if he had been a girl so I'm not being snooty - but it is waaaay overused. Amelia Ruth, Amelia Kate, Amelia Jane?

Have you thought of Emelia rather than Amelia?
