When you were a child/teen what did you want to call your future children?

I know that not everyone thought about this when they were a child but if you did what names did you love then, and did you use them?

I'm Aussie and was going to live in Russia and name my boy Sydney and girl Adelaide.

I still love Adelaide as a girls name. Might use Adele if I have another DD.

I used to think Melanie was the most beautiful name in the world and I couldn't possibly marry a man who didn't agree we could call our first daughter that name.

I liked Sophia and still do but its been used by my bf and sister dammnit.

More esoterically, I liked Amythyst and January for girls. I imagine dhaving 4 girls and always thought of them as teenagers. Boys never featured on my agenda. Now I'm 32 and expecting my first so I don't think 4 is really that feasible....

I wanted a Nicole...

Some of the names on here are brilliant. I wonder if DH would let me have a Morrissey if ever we have another?

babylann · 09/06/2010 14:23

When I was a child I wanted twin girls called Jessica and Elizabeth (like the Sweet Valley High twins!)

But then I grew up a bit and wanted twin girls called Eva and Lottie when I was a teenager.

Ended up using none of these names when I had my daughter

Always wanted the name Jake or Jacob for a boy though from a young age, and still do! So maybe next time

TooPragmatic · 09/06/2010 14:24

Ceri and Sasha.

(had 2 boys!)

I wanted to adopt a Chinese baby boy and call him Hawaii.

I wanted to call my little girl Arizona.

Not sure what the obsession with American states was!

winkle2 · 14/06/2010 17:31

I also like Amethyst for a girl cause I love purple! But that's evolved to Violet now

shimmerysilverglitter · 14/06/2010 17:32

Jordan for a girl (who knew!?)

Matthew for a boy

BessieBoots - in my experience they never give in regarding using Morrissey - but then DH just doesn't understand.

He also doesn't understand that for a girl I'm currently opting for Betty (which is the name of Morrissey's mum) and he'll never know (but if we go for it, it will always secretly make me smile).

oh Ive had alot of fun reading this

I wanted a girl and I wanted to call her

Alexandrine Elizabeth Stephanie Caroline Benedicte

(I was obsessed with royal princes)

I wasnt going to have boys who wants boys?? (i was 8)

as a teenager

Regitze for a girl

Daniel for a boy ( tv programme in Denmark where I grew up)

I wanted Benedicte for a girl whilst pg with dd1 but DH said everyone would pronounce it Bebedict (and he had a point)

Daniel was a possibillity but we had a girl

she is named after JD Salingers The Catcher in the Rye as dh read it as a teenager and thought Holdens sister was just the coolest sister ever.. so we named her after the book...

hobbgoblin · 16/06/2010 23:57

Josie and Bronwyn

I REALLY loved Josie.

ickledee · 17/06/2010 09:08

I loved Victoria - even called my fish that because of Victoria Plum. Wouldn't use it now though.
Also liked Rebecca, James and Michael
