tbh i dont often lurk on baby name threads after one poster mentioned my DS name and said it was ugly [grrh]

if you like then go for it - no point in choosing a name you dont like (afterall you'll be calling him by that name for the next god knows many years!!)

scoobychocolate · 11/05/2010 15:00

I really like the name Beau. Its a name I did consider for my DS. Although didnt use it in the end

CinderellaRach · 11/05/2010 15:07

What did you go for in end scoobychocolate?

YThanks hogshead!I know I should go with a nname that I like but wished everyone else ddidn't hate the name he he

scoobychocolate · 11/05/2010 15:56

If you really like the name then go for it,it doesnt really matter wot everyone else thinks anyway, like I said before I really like it.I picked Casey in the end for my son.

CinderellaRach · 12/05/2010 09:39

Hey CinderellaRach,Did you know Spice Girl Emma Bunton has a son named Beau and so do the footballer Jamie Redknapp and his wife Louise of ninties pop band Eternal, do you remember them?

CinderellaRach · 16/05/2010 17:41

Yes I actually read an interview today with Louise Redknapp and she was talking about motherhood. Her sons are Charley and Beau!

Is it 'typical' of a Wag/Spice Girl to name their child this?

I have an Ellis James(22 mnths) and have fallen in love with the name Beau Alexander for ds2 due in a few weeks.

All of my friends and family have said it's a ridiculous name.DH hates it..I don't know how to change his mind.

Why do I like a name that everyone hates???Grr....

scoobychocolate · 16/05/2010 18:24

I read that interview today too, when i saw the name Beau it made me think of your post on here.I think the name you like Beau Alexander is a lovely name and goes really well with Ellis James. If I was to have another son then it would definatly be at the top of my list. Its definatly not a typical wag name nor is it ridiculous. If your DH really cant be persauded then what about having it as a middle name. What names does your DH like?

CinderellaRach · 17/05/2010 15:34

Thanks scoobychocolate.I'm glad someone else likes it!Would dh agree with you on the name Beau?
My dh said that if he was called Beau he 'would kill himself'(he's a bit dramatic).

I was thinking of not mentioning it to him now untill the baby is born and then be adamant.I have my heart set on it.

He likes Chester,Archer,Kelly and Jesse.I don't want any of these..

He chose Ellis for our ds1.I didn't love it but it was a 'grower' on me and now I love it.

He is such a strong-willed stubborn person and I have a feeling that he's going to do everything he can to give our next son a name that I won't like.

Don't know how to change his mind

Thanks.

Your DH definatly is being over dramatic. Have to say I dont really like any of his choices.I reckon if he chose Ellis's name then you should definatly choose this name.My DH is not keen on the name Beau. I LOVE it though.

CinderellaRach · 18/05/2010 13:08

Thanks scooby!!Will stick to my guns!

Lovethesea · 18/05/2010 13:46

I have to say if your DH hates it I think you'd best work on another one you like that he's more open to.

He has to introduce his son and talk to and about him and if he's at all hesitant about Beau (which is a marmite name for certain) then that would be hard going and a bit cruel.

I had Finn on my list but DH finds it too 'modern' so it's off. And I have removed things like Donald that he sees as good names that don't have good associations for me.

Finn Alexander would be lovely.

For what it's worth I can't stand Beau/Bo. Just sounds like a nn to me and one I'd wince at even then.

CinderellaRach · 18/05/2010 15:31

Thanks Lovethesea Finn is also on my list too!Although I'd put Finn and Beau in the same 'category'.
They are both nn sounding and have one syllable and don't have to be short for anything.
I'd understand if dh liked traditional names but his taste in names seem even more unusual than mine!
I understand that maybe we should start again and see what we come up with but don't want to 'make do' with a name just because dh didn't let me have the name that I have my heart set on.
He chose Ellis for ds1.Men grr...
