There is one Oscar in our nursery- he is wonderful, very well behaved and totally cute...and yes.. he's mine !

VirtuallyReal · 15/01/2010 15:02

I don't think there will be many of school-age yet MarshaB. It's exploded I popularity over the last two years I would say so they are all still quite little I know of three (and I hardly know any children!) and they are all under 2.

hulabula · 15/01/2010 15:15

Yes, I'd agree that it has only just recently exploded in popularity. I know 3(!) Oscars born in the last 18 months.

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 15:40

Marsha - congratulations

My DS is 8 months old and is called Oscar. We also ummed and aahed about his name, but in the end we decided we loved it and sod everyone else.

People's reactions have been varied but who cares? Once he IS Oscar he will BE Oscar and everyone will love it in the end because it will be HIS name and they love him.

Our choice of Oscar raised a lot of eyebrows in my family in particular as our family cat when I was little was called Oscar - I honestly honestly didn't name DS after the cat, but I do think its pretty funny that everyone thinks I did

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2010 16:06

Back from school run.
Things are on the up! Lots more positive comments today.

A mixed reaction is ok, I can handle that. Some will like it, some won't that's fine by me.

So Oscar it is. thanks all!
(good choice Bicnod!)

Oh yuck- someone had sex with Michael MacIntyre? Disgusting.

Skegness · 15/01/2010 16:14

Congratulations, Marsha. I bet your little Oscar is lovely and anyone who doesn't like the name initially will grow to like it because they'll like him.

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2010 16:18

Thanks Skegness, I hope so!

Digressing slightly - I still don't know of any Oscars apart from Osca de la Renta - what's up with Michael McIntyre? He seems perfectly Ok and not cockish

oohIsay · 15/01/2010 16:43

Yay I'm glad you went with it.

Michael McIntyre is a twat and the most unfunny 'comedian' ever.

upahill · 15/01/2010 16:49

I don't know OhIsay I think Frankie Boyle has my vote for un funny comedian followed by Russell Howard who is just a bit bland

Ronaldinhio · 15/01/2010 16:51

MM not funny

pointysaysrelax · 15/01/2010 16:55
  1. he's ok
InStyle · 15/01/2010 17:01

Russell Howard should be sued under the trades descriptions act. He is about as funny as the 13 year old boy at the back of the class. I am funnier than him. Which is not very...

oohIsay · 15/01/2010 17:06

I will judge you if you find MM funny.

Toffeepopple · 15/01/2010 17:06

None

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 17:25

Yay fabulous choice MarshaB and welcome to the world little Oscar...

...quick post some pics, I want to see if he looks like my little Oscar

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2010 17:27

Oh your Oscar is beautiful. How old was he in the photo on the mat?

Nervous as mine still has a little old man newborn hair do, hair at sides and combover at top!

Let me see what I can find...

My DS2 is Oscar, and there is one in the pre school next door. but not another in school.

biggulp · 15/01/2010 17:29

one

midnightexpress · 15/01/2010 17:35

Diss Russell Howard at your peril - his GF is an MNer - I got in trouble . Though I agree entirely with upahill.

OP - none in either of my DSs' classes (loads in each class - it's nursery so different children come different days). We are in Scotland though and I don't think it has quite reached these parts in the same way as it has down south.

Bicnod · 15/01/2010 17:54

Awwwwwwwww your little Oscar is GORGEOUS and he looks just like an Oscar very alert for 4 weeks - oooooo looking at him is making me all broody...

My Oscar was a month old in the playmat pic - seems like a long time ago

CloudDragon · 15/01/2010 17:56

I went to a playgroup yesterday and there were 3 oscars out of 12 kids!

MarshaBrady · 15/01/2010 17:58

A month old!, oh he's all lovely and plump and beautiful.

Mine needs some hair and get out of that squidgy stage.

But still we love him!

OP posts:
Bicnod · 15/01/2010 18:03

No no no, you want him to stay squidgy for as long as possible ooooo I love it when they're all new and squidgy and yummy
