I'd be interested to hear your predictions for popular baby names of 2010.

(Apart from Jack )

Judging by people I know who have had babies in the last few months, it'll still be Alfie/Archie/Tilly/Ella/Ruby/Maisie. Oh and Jack of course!!

For boys;

Arthur
Eddie (along the lines of Alfie, Charlie, Freddie, is overdue a revival)
all the -aydens/aidens
Biblical names like Noah, Jacob, Isaac (or Issac) will continue to be popular.
Variations of Alexander, Alex, Zander, Xander are becoming more popular too.

For girls;
Evie/Eva/Ava's
Amelie/Amelia
Flowery old ladies names will still be used, I'm surprised Daisy has made such a climb but think it's popularity will be short lived. Lily, Poppy, Rosie etc will remain popular for a few years.

I think classic names like Sarah might start to rise as 'unusual' and 'of the time' names are seen as common.

If you add up all the different spellings and nn of isobel, it would normally be number one however they seem to be in decline now.

I'm surprised Ethan isn't in the top ten yet.

Also Elijah Felix for boys will rise to top 100.

Will be interested to see what celeb baby names like Kai do, Bounty suggest it's in 30's now.

Oh no, I hope Ada doesn't get hugely popular. I have my heart set on it but I won't be pregnant for a while yet!

For anyone debating whether to give their DC popular names: DS's name is rocketing up the charts. I find this annoying it - it's our name grrr. However DS is delighted as he doesn't like to stand out from the crowd.

Miley....yuk!

Seth, my favourite boys' name is going to be up there I think. I hear it more and more.

Classic names like Anna, Jean, Sarah, Rachel I think. Not popular, not old lady, not modern. They'll be the new Ella/Ellie/Evie in a few years.

Kitty I hear a lot. And Florence.

Isaac definitely on the up.

Agree with Missy about Miley - hideous! Bet it becomes the new equivalent of the 1980s Kayley!

Not surprised to see Maisie growing in poularity - two colleagues have recently named their dd's Maisie.

in 2005 Freakonomics suggested these will be the top US names of 2015.

As you can see, for girls at least, lots of them were popular 2009 UK names, so I reckon those not yet in the top 100 here will be heading there soon. Boys seem to be less UK-predicted, for some reason...

I like the name Florence. There seem to be masses of babies and toddlers called Eve/Evie/Eva/Ava at the moment.

But then what will everyone say when she is older and goes to stay with her niece?
