thaliablogs · 16/02/2010 16:13

Horatio. No one would let me. But i still think it would have been a lovely name.

belgo · 16/02/2010 16:14

Broken banana - I know a little girl called Jadzia! Very nice name.

Rejessta · 16/02/2010 16:19

bebejones

Instead of Athena try Anathema! Anathema Jones - there is no arguing with a name like that. ;)

bokki · 16/02/2010 16:23

i did really like the name obie (ruled out by other half as we knew someone at school who had that name and went ver bonkers)

i also loved monty for latest boy but there was someone i knew of who had a baby monty and i didnt want her to think i was copying, my cousin called his new babe that anyway!

i also adored moses, the day after having my youngest it was in my head constantly, but he doesnt look much like a moses and i figured if i felt even a little bit silly saying it or telling people, then i probably shouldnt! have become quite trad with the names since having babies

also loved tiger and sassy for a girl

LuciaRose · 16/02/2010 16:24

These are all such gorgeous names - I wish that people would use their guilty pleasure names! The names I like and would use are fairly dreamy and romantic anyway, but here are a few I love but might not dare use (inspired by many on your lists):

Loveday
Celandine
Araminta
Cassia
Odile
Raphaella
Honey
Bathsheba
Heloise
Capuci ne
Liselotte

Orlando
Lysander
Hugo

cantmummyhaveabreak · 16/02/2010 16:34

I just love:

Poppy
Scarlet
Maisy
Tabitha

DH dislikes them - we've had 2 DD's and it was a nightmare to get him to agree on names for them, but we settled on Bethany & Ruby... So DH wont allow Scarlet as we'd have 2 DD's with 'red' names... he just doesn't like the rest.

We're hoping to TTC DC4 in the near future and I think he's finally agreed on one of my fantasy girls names... Daisy It was dismissed along with the rest when PG with the other girlies tho!!

As for boys i love my DS's name, Declan, and we have Oliver lined up in case we have DS2!!

milly987 · 16/02/2010 16:43

@mummyloveslucy

My younger brother is called Hugo, and he has never had a problem with it. We're not posh, and it really suits him (he is the the spit of Prince Harry!) He's 20 now and loves his name and the uniqueness of it!

My other brother is Maximillian (Max) and I am Camilla (although Milly) so it goes to show you can call your kids anything you like!!

Mine are Oliver George and Phoebe Grace, and for future ones we have

b: henry, alfie, oscar, theo, felix, rufus, gus, leo, barnaby, jacob, finlay, louis, casper, zachary, douglas, rory, tristan, toby, elliot or luca.

For girls we really stuggle, seems that Imogen or Darcy would be top choices though!

MyMamaToldMe · 16/02/2010 16:51

I love:

Arrow
Hunter
Talitha
Nathanial
Taneal
Fern
Raine
Skyla
Ilana

Sadly DH likes none of them.

sungirltan · 16/02/2010 16:57

he he. my actual first name is listed on here....

i am convinced the future dc2 will be a boy...

i like

django

dh likes Byron!

i am screwed if its a girl (even though i really want one) as dd's name was my fantasy name

Rockbird · 16/02/2010 17:06

Friend's daughter is Lyria. I absolutely love it but there was a big family story behind why they used it and it would really truly be stealing if I used it.

MinnieMummy · 16/02/2010 17:35

Xanthe. It's on my longlist, which I showed to my friends, and they all went 'Err.... this name is nice instead'.

don't see what's wrong with it myself.

I also like Tabitha but DH says it's too posh (esp as we have double-barrelled surname)

BouncingTurtle · 16/02/2010 18:08

DH and I really loved the name Alejandro (I'm half Spanish) but it would have sound rubbish with our quintessentially English surname.

We have a Hugo

I loved Milo, but it's the name of a hot milky drink in Hong Kong where DH grew up, so to him it would be like calling a child Horlicks

hairymonkey · 16/02/2010 18:16

Boys
Santiago
Yves

hairymonkey · 16/02/2010 18:17

hairymonkey · 16/02/2010 18:20

ooh yes, and Emanuel for a boy too, I'll stop now!

littleoldme · 16/02/2010 18:23

I too love Milo, also like Arlo lots.

Shine on - The actor who plays the oldest buy in Outnumbered is called Tiger. Love it.

Eve4Walle · 16/02/2010 18:29

My DD was going to be Tabitha righ up to the birth. My Mum put us off because she was so vehement in her dislike of it. It would have suited her though.

I really wanted Boris for our DS. DH said no but I still call him it sometimes just to see what it sounds like.
