What would you think of making up your own names for your DCs?

I am asking because I have recently met a family in which the parents made up names for their two DDs. Their names are Kelen and Briar!

Has anyone here done that? What do you think of the idea? It is definitely the way to avoid ending up with another 10 children with the same name in their class...

I have referred to all of my children as Briar from time to time, but it was more to do with their temperament..."That young wan is a right briar" !!

Ffs sakes she was only signing the end of a post!! Am a bit disheartened at the bitchiness of mumsnet sometimes! Nothing wrong with making up a name either if the parent's like it it's a lovely idea!

There's a woman at the dc's school who hugs everyone in the playground (great long close hugs). I know her a bit and I'm terrified she'll do it to me.
