Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Tortington · 31/08/2009 16:30

its seriously one of the ugliest names i ever heard

Rindercella · 31/08/2009 16:32

Don't beat around the bush will you Custardo

Personally, I don't like it.

reikizen · 31/08/2009 16:33

Oh god no.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 31/08/2009 16:33

Prefer Clothilde

tethersend · 31/08/2009 16:35

Blood clot.

Tilda is nice though

Fruitysunshine · 31/08/2009 16:36

Sounds like some kind of medicine - clomid? What's that then?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 31/08/2009 16:36

There are some windup threads around today, clearly.

I hope this is one of them!

justbeenforapromenade · 31/08/2009 16:45

Was not a wind up, just an interesting discovery, I rather like it's proximity to clotted cream myself - like a lovely milkmaid, not going to use it, though.

Mumcentreplus · 31/08/2009 16:47

sounds like a STD..

Nancy66 · 31/08/2009 16:48

sounds like you couldn't decide between Chloe and Matilda and thought 'oh well we'll have half and half'

TheCrackFox · 31/08/2009 16:51

Everyone at school will shorten it to "Clot".

This had to be the worst names ever suggested on Mumsnet.

purepurple · 31/08/2009 16:52

sounds like a brand of dishcloth

BoysAreLikeDogs · 31/08/2009 16:52

It's a French name not a cut-n-shut name

violethill · 31/08/2009 17:18

If you do go for it, at least spell it correctly as someone else suggested: Clothilde.

But she will just be known as Clot which ever way you spell it.

colditz · 31/08/2009 17:27

Sounds like a gynaecological disease.

scottishmummy · 31/08/2009 17:31

imagine shouting "clotilda come in for your tea" .ghastly. waiting for the howls of derision

LadyHooHa · 31/08/2009 17:32

Couldn't have put it better, Crackfox.

dogofpoints · 31/08/2009 17:42

There is a basic flaw with Clotilda. Hav e we spotted it yet?

As others have alluded to, there are very good reasons why this name is not in common use in English.

BonsoirAnna · 31/08/2009 17:49

There are other French names which really don't work in English. Fanny?

dogofpoints · 31/08/2009 17:52

Laurence for a girl

scottishmummy · 31/08/2009 18:04

dogofpoints what is the basic flaw?

loobylu3 · 31/08/2009 18:05

Sorry but don't like it either!

NorbertDentressangle · 31/08/2009 18:11

I nearly fell off my chair laughing when I saw this thread title pop up.

In the words of John Mcenroe "You cannot be serious" !
