Which middle name though, and do you think it's a bit weird to have with older DD Hermione?

Middle names:

Kitty
Betsie
Mathilde
Mabel
Bellatrix

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 24/05/2009 22:55

ooh you lucky thing!

I was due last first week of july

I was hoping for a dd but out popped the most luscious ds!

I think Warthog would implode if she heard his bizarre name!

FairLadyRantALot · 24/05/2009 23:02

onion...or oh-ny-nee with her-my-nee....terrible, sorry....and the name is even more difficult to work out then hermione...

hobbgoblin · 24/05/2009 23:04

I will just have to mix with fellow Classics appreciators! Roffle at the unlikelihood.

i'm all for an unusual name, truly, but i genuinely thought that you were talking about pressing ahead with changing your mobile phone company. it's really awful, please don't name your child oneone. cos that's what everyone's reading, even if it's pronounced differently.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 24/05/2009 23:18

Winona Ryder has done ok - not that dissimilar

AitchTwoOh · 24/05/2009 23:20

it's completely dissimilar. utterly and totally. oneone is an affliction.

mind you, winona's still a fairly stupid name and i think she's a habitual thief who's addicted to painkillers. but yes apart from that she's done well.

hobbgoblin · 24/05/2009 23:21

Out of interest, do my most vehement opposers have DC with fairly regular names or not?

OP posts:
PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 24/05/2009 23:23

hobbgoblin i have developed an elephant like skin regarding my dcs names

they always grow on folk!

hobbgoblin · 24/05/2009 23:24

Are you going to spill as to what they are ?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 24/05/2009 23:29

my dd2 has an unusually-spelled name, it's italian. if you don't know what it is, or don't speak italian, you might mispronounce it, but once you've heard it once you wouldn't forget as it's the same as an english name. (i'm not telling, but basically i have no objection to a flowery wank-name. )

the reason i think that oneone is a terrible name is that no matter how many times i look at it, those letters read as oneone. i once got sent an email with loads of jumbled up letters and it read fine, because it appears that the human eye sorts these things out. that's what's happening with oneone.

FairLadyRantALot · 24/05/2009 23:32

my kids are called Sven, Yannic and Flynn...you make your own mind up if those are "normal", lol

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 24/05/2009 23:34

ooh not online!

last born is an argonaut!

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 24/05/2009 23:41

mmj but they have grown up with it...they think it is completely normal

and it is them ....

I dont see any issue

I have a friend whose name begins with 'Poo' - no one blinks - it is her name !

TheFallenMadonna · 24/05/2009 23:42

Now, you've told me one of your ds's names before Paula, and while it is undoubtedly poncetastic it is easy to pronounce and doesn't resemble the name of a telecomms company. And I like it

And the Hermione thing - I know sisters called Xanthe and Ianthe, and seriously, just too similar.

NationalFlight · 25/05/2009 07:04

lol at aitch

Hobby, i have one very unusual and one peculiar...think utter silence from everyone I told...

oneoone and hermi one, mm, noooo

you could go the whole hog and have obi one as your next tho'

warthog · 25/05/2009 11:18

well i think it's hard growing up as it is without having an unusual name. i only had an unusual surname - no-one could spell it or pronounce it, and i got teased to death about it.

she's the one who's got to live with it, not you. someone said they'd developed a tough skin over the names of their dc's, do you really want your dc's to HAVE to do that?

hermione is bordering on unusual, but it's a lovely shakespearean name, made famous by hp etc. but i've NEVER heard of this name and wouldn't want to guess at how to pronounce it.
