My DF wanted to call me Merlin if I was a boy and Gwenevere if I was a girl. My DM wanted Joseph for a boy and Abi-Jo for a girl. I ended up with Abi but secretly i'd have liked Gwenevere

If I was a boy, I would have been Christopher shortened to "kit" which I think I would have liked a lot. My mother's first choice for a girl was "Wendy" but the people where she was living at the time pronounced it "Windy" so she dropped the idea. They went for something that I am much happier with than I think I would have been with Wendy.

My mum wanted Wanita (sp?) for me - thank god my dad won that one!

When I was pg with DD my FIL seriously suggested Mahaila as a girls name after his gran! Strangely we didnt end up calling her that - must tell her about that when she gets home from school!

I was going to be Katherine, Kate for short. Lord knows how they went from Kate to Tracy

Dad wanted Anouska, a tad exotic me thinks for rural suffolk in the early 1970's.

Went for Hayley as dad had apparently met Hayley Mills in the monkey bar at the raffles hotel in Singapore whilst in the army and thought she was lovely.

Q parents making me watch every Hayley Mills film as a child - l don't mind she does seem nice.

Carrie Anne

Miles if a boy.

India or Lily if a girl.

I was going to be Jasmine. Not sure if they had a boys name picked out. I like my name though, so they did a good job in the end.

Megglevache · 29/04/2009 12:45

I was to be a Begonia. I am very much not one. If I was a boy I would've been a Ferdinand. I like it.

Nothing.

My mum had stillborn twins before I came along and as a result they were afraid to plan anything. The name was plucked from the air after I arrived.

Would have been David if a boy - YAWN!

Mum always says she wishes she'd chosen Juliet instead of Julia as my middle name. I just wish I had been called Julia instead of my actual first name (but only clicked I could do something about this when I was far too old to change it ).
