My DF wanted to call me Merlin if I was a boy and Gwenevere if I was a girl. My DM wanted Joseph for a boy and Abi-Jo for a girl. I ended up with Abi but secretly i'd have liked Gwenevere

If I had been a boy I would have been "Martin"...think my firstnmae was te only name my mum wanted for me...

CatchaStar · 28/04/2009 16:52

Cassandra or Aaron.

When I think of Cassandra all I can here is Rodney's whiney voice from only fools and horses lol.

I am neither

notsoteenagemum · 28/04/2009 16:52

Sophie or Sam if I was a boy. DF wanted Hugo or Hamish for a boy but Mum put her foot down.

Ninjacat · 28/04/2009 17:03

Effie or Angharad for a girl
Sam for a boy

My solid welsh name was unheard of outside of Wales when I was a kid and is now on the top five list!!!

I quite like Effie

BestLaidPlans · 28/04/2009 17:05

GetOrfMoiLand (and presumably GeekyLass)- another Kirsty here, but since the alternative was Kerrileigh, which sounds like a processed cheese, I'm not too distraught! I'd have been Alexander if I was a boy.

belgo · 28/04/2009 17:13

My mum wanted to call me Harriet, by gran wanted Helen, but my dad got his way with another H name. I do love the name Harriet.

tigger32 · 28/04/2009 17:22

My mum wanted to call me Octavia!! (i was born in October but that really is no excuse) Thank god my Dad put his foot down, oh and she informs me they would have shortened it to Tivvy
Damien if I was a boy

angelene · 28/04/2009 17:25

Pollyanna!!!!!

Vaguely · 28/04/2009 17:34

Fionnuala (sp??) pron Finoola.
i was horrified to learn that as a child.
i really like it now tho.

messymissy · 28/04/2009 17:41

Harriet!

actually i quite like it and have never met a Harriet so i would have been pleased to have an unusual name.

as it is, i like my name but the spelling is not the usual, so it foxes lots of people and i am forever spelling it out....

crumpet · 28/04/2009 17:42

Desiree.

Thanks Dad.

My actual name not great but a vast improvement!

amidaiwish · 28/04/2009 18:07

Donna-Marie

luckily my mum is super religious and i was born on a holy day so got that name instead. phew.

SmileyMylee · 28/04/2009 18:12

My Dad wanted to call me Beatrice. My mum loved it until she discovered it was the name of one of his ex-girlfriends!

Hotcrossbunny · 28/04/2009 18:34

Roberta

schneebly · 28/04/2009 18:38

My Dad wanted to call me Heather which is a nice enough name but with my maiden name it would have sounded like a place...

Heather Glen

I am Scottish yes

If I was a boy I would have been Alistair which is the name of my brother.

schneebly · 28/04/2009 18:41

and ahem pramspotter..nowt wrong with Donald It is a great name!

jenster1976 · 28/04/2009 18:57

If I'd been born 3 days earlier, my dad insists that I would have been Albehuera, and I'm not sure he's entirely joking Commemorates some battle won by dad's regiment back in the peninsula wars....wtf!!

Niecie · 28/04/2009 19:01

Victoria or Fleur! (Fleur - I ask you, what was my dad thinking)

I think Richard for a boy.

fizzpops · 28/04/2009 19:02

Vanessa or Julian (I think!).

Vanessa would have suited me even less than my name now, and tbh I prefer my name even though it has never quite seemed like me.

pottycock · 28/04/2009 19:06

Jezebel.

Yes, really.

Kayzr · 28/04/2009 19:10

I was going to be called Georgina but I was born on April 23rd. But I love my name so I don't mind.

wed99 · 28/04/2009 19:19

Verity but my dad vetoed that or Simon

jambutty · 28/04/2009 19:22

Robert or Wendy, apparently. No offence to any Roberts or Wendys (or is that Wendies?), but glad they changed their minds.

SchrodingersCat · 28/04/2009 19:24

I was going to be Camilla Margaret. My DM still didn't name for 5 days though.

nannyogg · 28/04/2009 20:05

Stephanie, which I quite like actually. I like my name too though..
