My DF wanted to call me Merlin if I was a boy and Gwenevere if I was a girl. My DM wanted Joseph for a boy and Abi-Jo for a girl. I ended up with Abi but secretly i'd have liked Gwenevere

Zoe / Jessie / Thomas

Geekylass · 25/04/2009 13:48

What's wrong with Kirsty??

MrsGokWan · 25/04/2009 14:34

I should have been Aurora but my Dad couldn't spell it, still pee'd off about that.Still have a hankering to be called Rory for short

dizzydixies · 25/04/2009 14:42

they knew I was going to be a girl, being adopted has that advantage but I was very nearly Melody - thank feck I ended up with one that makes me sounds more like one of the Walton family members

ScorpiowithabigS · 25/04/2009 14:44

Sophie or Saffron.

Would have been Thomas if i was a boy.

MarthaFarquhar · 25/04/2009 14:44

I was nearly a Victoria, which I prefer to my own name.

VoodooTheUnlikely · 25/04/2009 14:46

Cherry.

In honour of the blossom on the trees when I was born. I thank the good lord that one didn't pan out.

mumwhereareyou · 25/04/2009 14:50

My dad has just come back from the states in the 60's and told mum he had the perfect name
Randy, apparently they had massive rows and i ended up being called Sarah.

I dread to think of the teasing i would have got as a teenager with that name.

serenity · 25/04/2009 14:52

If I'd been a boy I'd have been Quentin...

Shitemum · 25/04/2009 14:56

I was nearly Sylvia. Wouldn't have minded that but am happy with the (unusual but not made up)name they chose.

MrsMills · 25/04/2009 14:59

India, or Felix if I was a boy.

I was eventually named after one of my fathers ex girlfriends.

True true true

Swedes · 25/04/2009 15:05

I was going to be Hugh if a boy, after my uncle. I think they thought about calling me Anna but instead I got that as a middle name.

littleboyblue · 25/04/2009 15:12

If I had been born 29 minutes later, I would have been called Davey regardless of being a boy or a girl as both parents are david Bowie fans and 29 minutes later would have been his birthday.
They originally wanted Sarah-Jane for a girl, but settled on sonething else. Not really sure if I was a boy, my memory thinks they once told me I'd have been Tom, after my dad's goldfish......

stillenacht · 25/04/2009 15:13

Melanie

stillenacht · 25/04/2009 15:13

or Robert

troutpout · 25/04/2009 15:29

Melvyn if i'd been a boy

TigersChick · 25/04/2009 15:35

If I'd been a boy, I'd have been Jonathan.
Not long after I was born a family moved in 2 doors down from us with 2 boys called [DB's name] and Jonathan so it was probably lucky that I wasn't a boy!!
They toyed with the idea of calling me Polly; quite glad they didn't

katiepotatie · 25/04/2009 15:38

I was Jimmy the whole way through my dm's pregnancy, and would have been Jimmy had I been a boy. Was named after my dgm.

foxinsocks · 25/04/2009 15:39

George

ohdearwhatamess · 25/04/2009 15:55

Richard, if a boy, despite the fact that it really didn't work with my parents' surname.

whoingodsnameami · 25/04/2009 15:57

If I was a boy I was going to be called Curtis and if I was born in the month I was due, I would have been called Keyleigh

Philip or Sarah.

Dad decided I didnt look like a Sarah though.

I have 3 bros and a sis and none of them are called Philip or Sarah! (I am the eldest)

MadameCheese · 25/04/2009 16:06

Stephanie but sister is called Caroline so parents felt they didn't want to copy the Monacos.

Or William but I'm female so that would have been weird

chickchickchickee · 25/04/2009 16:09

Was nearly a Natalie, and if male, Luke (80s child)
