Not my favourites - what type of names do you like besides those?

belgo · 16/01/2009 15:34

not keen. Prefer Rhys.

ilovetochat · 16/01/2009 15:34

sorry but i don't really like them either.

LadyPinkOfPinkerton · 16/01/2009 15:34

Brooke is okay. Don't like Reece much

chisigirl · 16/01/2009 15:35

Brooke - I think of that MTV show about Brooke Hogan, the daughter of Hulk Hogan!

They sound nice names but a little 'Hollywood' to me.

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 15:36

Rhys for a boy is OK, but wouldn't be my own choice. But it's a perfectly acceptable name for a boy.

REally really hate Brooke for a girl. Rhymes with Fuck. It's also a bit androgenous which I don't like, and it sounds like you're trying to be American.

smellybulldog · 16/01/2009 15:36

I really like both names but the spelling of Reece reminds me of Reeces Pieces (peanut butter sweets). Think I prefer Rhys.

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 15:37

For a girl,

What about Hope? Has that snappy one syllable vibe but is less androgenous.

smellybulldog · 16/01/2009 15:38

I don't think Brooke rhymes with fuck unless you have an accent and pronounce it 'fook'

belgo · 16/01/2009 15:38

'hate Brooke for a girl. Rhymes with Fuck'

Does it? How do you pronounce Brooke?

MrsMattie · 16/01/2009 15:39

Don't like them, sorry.

traceybath · 16/01/2009 15:41

I do like Hope though!

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 15:44

I don't like them, sorry.

Any others to run by us?

belcantwait · 16/01/2009 15:46

dont like either of them sorry. hate to use the word but they sound a bit 'chavvy' (ew sorry) to me

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 15:46

I'm interested in how you pronouce Brooke in a way that DOESN't rhyme with Fuck!

It is pronounced that way - you know, like the little babbling brooke ran through the village.

Like the famous actress and sufferer of PND Brooke Sheilds.

Am I getting anywhere yet?!

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 15:47

I pronounce Brooke like Bruck. Truck.

How do you pronounce it?

Lulumama · 16/01/2009 15:47

don;t like either, i;m afraid

belgo · 16/01/2009 15:47

Brooke rhymes with book
fuck rhymes with duck

LadyLiffey · 16/01/2009 15:49

Do some people not know how to pronounce Fuck!?!?
Fooking 'ell

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/01/2009 15:49

I've never heard Brooke pronounced to rhyme with 'fuck' - ever !

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 15:49

Ok Belgo, I see know, it's a very nuanced difference in pronunciation - I thought you were saying it was pronounced like

Brew..ke
or Spook!

Lulumama · 16/01/2009 15:49
Grin
bronze · 16/01/2009 15:50

LL {grin]

Sycamoretree · 16/01/2009 15:50

And the bigger the difference between Brooke and Fuck, the posher you are!

smellybulldog · 16/01/2009 15:50

I agree with belgo. Again though.. unless you have a particular accent that makes you say dook. Ey oop me dook (hello my duck).
