What do we - the Mumsnet Collective - think of the name "Neo" as a middle name for a boy?

yogabird · 27/08/2008 21:58

Nein

Weegiemum · 27/08/2008 21:59

No to Neo! No!

And prefer Aidan - but 'tis ds name, so am biased.

preggersplayspop · 27/08/2008 22:00

Yup, matrix here too.

Very odd combination. Aiden is a lovely name but not paired with Neo.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 27/08/2008 22:00

No not a joke..

Not my baby, but one I witnessed come into the world on Sun.

Perfectly nice normal parents bt the way - not stoned hippies or similar.. but wanting an N middle name as, for own reasons, would like the initials ANT and its a T surname

(I may have spelt Aiden wrong actually - it's not a dead cert yet)

Neo Natal.

llareggub · 27/08/2008 22:02

Noel would be better, I think.

Madlentileater · 27/08/2008 22:03

neo????? to differentiate from the old/traditional/existing baby???

Weegiemum · 27/08/2008 22:03

N names not easy though?

Noah
Nigel
Norman
Nicholas
Nehemiah

none of them great and can't off the top of my head think of others.

preggersplayspop · 27/08/2008 22:04

Its seems a bit odd to me. I can understand avoiding certain combinations, like GBH, but don't really get aiming for an ANT combination!

QuintessentialShadow · 27/08/2008 22:04

Neo-Platonism
Neo-Nazism
Neo Taliban
Neo-liberalism
Neo-dada

Cant think of anything else neo but it is a prefix that simply means new.

Janni · 27/08/2008 22:05

Aidan Neo sounds like 'I don't know' in a comedy Welsh accent.

muggglewump · 27/08/2008 22:05

No, but this is surely a joke?

nooka · 27/08/2008 22:05

I think it is a very silly name, but as it's a middle name it probably doesn't really matter.

Janni · 27/08/2008 22:06

Nathan, Nick, Nutella, Nico

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 27/08/2008 22:07

I thought of Noah. And Nathan which is nice but doesn't really go...

2 syllable surname by the way.

It's a name I dislike intensely tbh. Plus, a name starting with the letter N does not flow from the suggested first name. When giving out the full name it will just sound like its one long name because the middle name starts with the same sound the first one ends with. Sorry

Janni · 27/08/2008 22:08

Why not Neil?

Habbibu · 27/08/2008 22:08

first name ending in -n, and next one beginning n is a bit tricky to say and hear.
