What do we - the Mumsnet Collective - think of the name "Neo" as a middle name for a boy?

Shiny - it would be nice to hear what she decides in the end. Cos Aidan is such a cool name!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/08/2008 08:59

Weegie I think it is going to be Aydan James but I will report back if this changes again .

I see we moved from Neo now, but it's not as bad as a friend of dh's who's children are

Eric Danger

Daisy Boo

there's a third child now too but not sure on the name

Another friend has Xavier as their dc's middle name, and it's because of his dads love of comics

Weegiemum · 28/08/2008 09:17

Thats nice SHiny. Personally I prefer the more usual spelling, but any more Aidans/Aidens/Aydans in the world is good for me.

I means "a flame: firey" and is after St Aidan, who came from Ireland to Iona to Northumbria to convert the pagan English. St Aidan was a great bloke. It was said of him :

""He neither sought nor loved anything of this world, but delighted in distributing immediately to the poor whatever was given him by kings or rich men of the world."

I like that. He founded Lindisfarne (Holy Island) and here is his Wiki entry.

Two of my nephews have middle names beginning with N ... one is Nathan and the other is Niall ...
If that helps.

Wasn't really headbanging the table

I suggested Aidan James! ti hi!

Lovely name.

(And well done on the birth experience, I read your thread with tears welling up, it was so beautiful, but then had to rush to ds2 and forgot to reply on it)

See, now we can convince ourselves that we actually have an influence on real life events. Fantastic. I hope it's Aidan James.

As long as your surname isn't Nazi I guess it is ok (if you like that sort of thing)

Podrick · 28/08/2008 18:17

The worst name yet on these threads

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/08/2008 18:31

LOL CD

And Podrick - no - absolutely not! I have to disagree with that!

lastboxoftampons · 29/08/2008 15:00

newbie, Podrick?

I thought it said Nemo orignally and thought no, that's a fish! Neo is not a name it's a prefix...!

oi · 29/08/2008 15:01

Neo fascist

first thing that came to mind

SoupDragon · 29/08/2008 15:03

Aydan??? Please no!

cestlavie · 29/08/2008 15:17

Neo was "The One" though, wasn't he!

I'd be inclined to call a child Neo, but only on the condition that I could call his siblings Morpheus and Trinity.... oooh, Trinity for a girl, I like that!

lastboxoftampons · 29/08/2008 15:22

Cestlavie - A friend of mine when I was in school was called Trinity. It's a real name!

KateF · 29/08/2008 15:26

My friend has an Aidan Thomas-very nice but please tell her to spell it properly

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 29/08/2008 22:42

She isn't spelling it incorrectly, she is spelling it differently and has a valid family reason for doing so.
