What do we - the Mumsnet Collective - think of the name "Neo" as a middle name for a boy?

We have Aidan with a 2-syllable T surname and it is nice.

But he has great old fashioned family middle names in there too.

PMSL Janni

Muggle No. When I posted pretending I was pregnant and wanting to name my baby after the entire character list of Torchwood (as in Ianto Tosh Captain-Jack etc) that was a joke! )

I may link this thread to my lovely friend just off her child-bed.. please be nice

It's fine . You can do that sort of stuff with a mn and your children won't hate you forever. And at least it isn't Nero.

Hey, how about Nemo?

schneebly · 27/08/2008 22:16

sorry but I don't like it at all.

Blu · 27/08/2008 22:18

"Aidan Neo" will have everyone offering him a Vicks Inhaler every time he gives his name.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 27/08/2008 22:22

Friend is not braving the thread. She is feeding the baby and going to bed. I jave expressed the gist to her by text

Friend would like to know what you would all suggest?

What would you team with Aiden/Aidan - two syllable surname starting with T?

Please?

How about Neo-Con? it has a certain US style ring to it.

Weegiemum · 27/08/2008 22:32

As I said, we have this.

Middle names are Paul (after dh Grandad)
Russell (after my Dad - not a opoular or trendy choice, but my Dad is delighted).

With 2 syllable first and last names you can have either a one or 2 syllable middle name I think.

I don't think I would like the -n N combination, but I am supposing the N middle name is important to them.

Not something that also ends in N - like Nathan. Just doesn't trip well off the tongue.

Hope she can decide what to do - I found naming pretty stressful myself

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 27/08/2008 22:32

Any name, doesn't have to be begin with N now...

Aiden James
Aiden Matthew
Aiden Marius
Aiden Henrik
Aiden Michael
Aiden Edward

Aiden Niels
Aiden Nathan
Aiden Norman
Aiden Naod
Aiden Nataniel
Aiden Neil
Aiden Nettum
Aiden Nestor

etc

Weegiemum · 27/08/2008 22:39

Nathaniel is nice as a middle name. Means Gift of God.

Neil/Niall. Means champion

If it doesn't have to be N, do they have any family or ethnic/regional names special to them, like Gaelic or Welsh?

Janni · 27/08/2008 22:39

I like Aidan James

Any mention of Neo and I think it's an abbreviation of Neoplasia, I'm afraid.
But maybe that's just me,...

SuperBunny · 28/08/2008 00:57

My SIL used Neo as a middle name for her DS. His first name is worse and ends in an 'n'. Go for it if you like, but I wouldn't.

nappyaddict · 28/08/2008 01:03

I like Neo (and Nero) but I don't like the -n N combination.

thumbwitch · 28/08/2008 01:04

no. It just means new. Don't do it. Please.

Ghastly.

MrsJohnCusack · 28/08/2008 06:06

really, need you ask?

bossykate · 28/08/2008 08:14

i know someone with a child called neo.

sorry but it's awful.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 28/08/2008 08:38

It's not me, it's my friend and I was asking on her behalf. No need to cause yourselves injury with headbanging and the like.

Thank you for opinions.
