Thoughts on Zenith as a gender neutral baby name suggestion

• Zenith •

I named my boy it earlier this year, it’s a gender neutral name meaning the highest point in the sky.
Just posting this as a name suggestion to others who may not of heard of it before.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CinnamonJellyBeans · 02/08/2026 02:18

I hope he never comes last in a test or a race. His teachers will snigger.

Strawberrryfields · 02/08/2026 02:16

I would’ve assumed girl if she’d not said! I think the ‘ith’ ending/ sound is more feminine - Lilith, Gwyneth

Just sounds like Kenneth to me 😅

Twatterati · 02/08/2026 03:20

Is you surname Windows?

deepseaargyllfish · 02/08/2026 04:04

Zenith, Nadir, Stratosphere, Orbit, Apogee, Constellation, Gibbous.

These are names you might give to… I don’t know… a server? Data centre?

I like that @op took the time to give the meaning, (although most people know what a zenith is already).

Woodsock · 01/08/2026 22:12

I think it's a double glazing company.

NO it’s a car lease company

Woodsock · 01/08/2026 22:12

I think it's a double glazing company.

My first thought also. Or a name for a cat ( I’m picturing a sleek, black cat).

Brainstorm23 · 02/08/2026 07:58

This is the zenith of stupidity.

Strawberrryfields · 02/08/2026 08:00

kkloo · 02/08/2026 02:24

Just sounds like Kenneth to me 😅

😂 as I was posting this I really tried to think of a male ith name and kept drawing blanks! How could I forget Kenneth!

OriginalSkang · 02/08/2026 08:03

Zenith Windows are my thoughts on it

greencatwitch · 02/08/2026 08:06

Poor kid.

Use it as a middle name if you must, but it is unfair to saddle a child with a random word as a first name.

I think parents who try too hard to come up with unusual names just end up looking very silly and thinking of themselves rather than how it will affect the child.

pouletvous · 02/08/2026 08:11

Isnt it insurance?

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/08/2026 08:15

Never heard of it as a name but I certainly know the word. Congratulations on your baby!

it wouldn’t be for me because I like traditional names like Matthew and Elizabeth but we all have different tastes, so it is perfectly fine as a name.

MerylSqueak · 02/08/2026 09:52

I know a teenager with a name like this. She hates it. She's very shy and it gets her a lot of attention. Her comment: "I wish my mum hadn't picked some random word from a dictionary to call me."

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/08/2026 10:46

Dear god op, I hope you are just deliberately on the wind up.

hahabahbag · 02/08/2026 10:47

Sounds like a name from the tv show gladiators

Promisingtree · 02/08/2026 10:48

I think it sounds nice.
a lot to live up to, though.

Mangetouts · 02/08/2026 10:50

It's a brand of camera. Something I'd think of for a cat maybe.

Wadsworthy · 02/08/2026 11:01

As long as you call your next child Nadir.

Wadsworthy · 02/08/2026 11:03

Purplecatshopaholic · 02/08/2026 10:46

Dear god op, I hope you are just deliberately on the wind up.

I always think of the Kath and Kim episode about calling Kim’s baby Epponay.

It’s yooneek, you know.

topcat2014 · 02/08/2026 11:04

oldestmumaintheworld · 01/08/2026 22:16

Were you on crack!? Or spent too much time on Til Tok? It's as bad as the 60s when rock stars called their children things like Zowie and Moonboot. Look it up.

And Zowie Bowie changed his name to Duncan - which I think is still a funky name

Excellentsausages · 02/08/2026 13:22

MerylSqueak · 02/08/2026 00:44

HAHAHAHA

There are plenty of other gender neutral names that have the advantage of actually being names. Leslie, for example.

Leslie is surely far more ripe for teasing on a 2026 baby than Zenith! Although teacher friends tell me name teasing doesn't really happen anymore anyway.

Mischance · 02/08/2026 13:23

Woodsock · 01/08/2026 22:12

I think it's a double glazing company.

😂- love that comment.

Honestly this is not a name I would want any child of mine to have; but each to their own.

Excellentsausages · 02/08/2026 13:25

IndigoBluey · 02/08/2026 01:55

I neither like or dislike it, much like other new world names. But I would disagree that it is gender neutral, it’s a female name. Immediately thought of Xena (same pronunciation as Zen) and she is a warrior princess. Zenith to me is a strong name for a girl 👧

Zenith doesn't sound anything like Xena. Zen rhymes with Ben, Xena rhymes with Nina. Different vowel sounds.

Excellentsausages · 02/08/2026 13:29

PyongyangKipperbang · 02/08/2026 00:47

Agreed

Vivian
Hilary
Evelyn

Not sure if this is a serious comment but none of these are used for boys anymore.

There are some gender neutral names around:

Rowan
Robin
Frankie
Phoenix
Morgan
River

That kind of thing.

BitterTits · 02/08/2026 13:34

-ith is more commonly a female name ending so it doesn't sound particularly gender-neutral to me.
