Tell me your favourite names you didn’t use?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HoobleDooble · 16/07/2026 17:37

Charlie, because my sister’s best friend had recently had a boy and called him Charlie so chose not to go with it. Violet, because I had a boy.

Notsurenotsurenotsure · 16/07/2026 17:46

Oliver, because we both have best friends called Oli. And Iris.

Daffodilsinthespring · 16/07/2026 17:47

Phoebe - it came a close second to what we chose.

Whosthetabbynow · 16/07/2026 17:49

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 16/07/2026 17:52

We had decided on Isaac after we were told we were having another boy. The baby turned out to be a girl.

Kepler22B · 16/07/2026 17:53

Elinor - love this name but didn’t have a 2nd girl.

Yes spelt like this - if it’s good enough for Jane Austen it’s good enough for me.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 16/07/2026 17:56

Lucy - didn’t like the idea of her being nicknamed “loose”

Madeline - loved it wish I fought harder for it she would suit Maddie

LittleGreenDuck · 16/07/2026 18:07

Anna. DH’s ex girlfriend.

Goldenmimx · 16/07/2026 18:11

Layla and Simona - both vetoed

MrsPositivity1 · 16/07/2026 18:12

Annie

AustenitesUnite · 16/07/2026 18:30

Elspeth ~ no Scottish ancestry and wouldn't look right with our surname

Philippa & Josephine ~ DH wanted a 'truly' girls name, not a female version of a male name

Jonathan ~ we know several and felt it may have caused confusion

Simeon ~ DH wasn't keen, can't remember why!

Blogswife · 16/07/2026 18:31

Olivia, Harriet, Sophie, Edward, Joseph, George

Firebird83 · 16/07/2026 19:15

Alexander, George, Susanna, Eleanor, Helena, Louisa

Mumofgirls2017 · 17/07/2026 06:04

For Boys- Torin, Casper, River, Magnus, Rex, Kit, Cosmo- but we had girls

For girls we considered Matilda, Piper, Athena, Tallulah, Clara, Iris, Ivy, Penelope, Zelda, Lyra, Cora….. but none of them worked for different reasons!

66babe · 17/07/2026 07:15

Noa , Noah, Albie , Bobby and Teddy ☹️
Still love them all

bitmiffed26 · 17/07/2026 07:18

Aoife, Tess(a), Cheska, Vivienne.

didn’t have boys but always loved Roman, which would be too common now, and Moss.

PermanentTemporary · 17/07/2026 07:18

Rachel, because we had ds.

Tamar - not brave enough (also it’s a girls name)
Redgrave (after Sir Steve) decided it was too extreme. Still slightly regretful for Red as a NN.

Blackcountryexile · 17/07/2026 07:19

Scarlett, because it would have been quite out there at the time. Now of course it wouldn't.

Ivyisararename · 17/07/2026 07:20

Alexander .

Enko · 17/07/2026 07:23
