I wish I had thought about the name Miles when I had my son. I feel it's so warm and welcoming. Just for fun - what's people's opinions?

Love it. Simple, timeless, unfussy.

crazeekat · 18/06/2026 10:24

Love it one of my favs and I work in maternity and it’s still uncommon

Bellybellas · 18/06/2026 11:36

Plural of Mile.

I don’t like it.

ToadRage · 18/06/2026 12:11

Not common but I like it.

Tryagain26 · 18/06/2026 12:14

It's one of those names I really dislike. No particular reason it's just my personal taste.
It's a perfectly acceptable name though. I don't like it when it's spelled Myles though

Temporaryname158 · 18/06/2026 12:15

totally average and quite a dull name, you could do ‘miles’ better!

Tryagain26 · 18/06/2026 12:24

StationJack · 18/06/2026 09:18

It's a name not a 'baby name'.Smile
Milo is a dog's name.

Milo was a name for a person long before it was used for dogs. It's not like it's Rover, Fido or Lassie.
I hate it when people adopt human names for their pets and then decide it must be a name for a pet not a person.

MendingWall · 18/06/2026 12:27

Was my 2nd choice boys name, love it.

Allmarbleslost · 18/06/2026 12:28

I've only ever known one Miles and his nickname was 500 😂

SowWhatNow · 18/06/2026 12:29

I love it, also the spelling Myles.

It was top of my list but we ended up not needing it.

Thatcannotberight · 18/06/2026 12:41

DS 14 goes to school with a Miles and 2 Milos. Definitely prefer Miles.

Butterflybluebell · 18/06/2026 12:52

No more babies for me, so I will never have a Miles 🥹. But it seems it has a good reputation mostly.

I think it's really wet and drippy.

JazzyAmbs · 18/06/2026 12:56

My Dad is a Miles. He’s pushing 80, awesome and everyone loves him. On that basis it’s a great name!

Shinyandnew1 · 18/06/2026 13:07

I like Mike’s-have done ever since watching This Life 😂

LBFseBrom · 18/06/2026 13:09

I like it. A friend of mine has a son by that name. It's cool.

I’m personally not a fan of boys names that are surnames like

miles
giles
mitchell
Jackson
Lincoln

etc etc I think a first name should be that, a first name.

Calliopespa · 18/06/2026 13:33

PancakeCloud · 17/06/2026 22:48

Not for me but inoffensive

Same for me.

I don't understand the appeal but it isn't crazy or awful, just not really a name I like.

Calliopespa · 18/06/2026 13:35

I'd put it in the same box as Mitchell.

I generally agree, but for some reason, I don't immediately think of Miles as a surname, even though I know it is.

It definitely has the surname vibe for me - something slightly impersonal tbh.

Apparently it was used as a given name long before it became a surname, according to Google!

It might also be it is a word meaning a long distance that it doesn't feel entirely like a first name to me! A bit like Kilometre!

Bellybellas · 18/06/2026 15:47

I just think of the measurement. You could have two brothers called Kilometres & Miles!

Yeah I see that, I think that's why people like the Myles spelling maybe?
It kind of sets it apart from that but obviously the sound doesn't change!
