I wish I had thought about the name Miles when I had my son. I feel it's so warm and welcoming. Just for fun - what's people's opinions?

I (probably irrationally!) really hate the name!
Miles to me is a distance not a sweet name!

Yeah the fact it's a distance is slightly off putting, wonder if it would induce bullying. But whenever I hear it, it feels so soft and warm!

Honestly, it makes me think of The Proclaimers.

🤣 I can see it

The name Miles to me conjures up a certain type of person. I can’t imagine a Miles slumming it in a youth hostel for example!!!

HoraceCope · 18/06/2026 07:28

i like it
definately better than Jaxon

tiramisugelato · 18/06/2026 07:29

My cousin is a Myles. I really like it.

Makes me think of This Life. I do like it. Prefer Miles spelling to Myles.

Me too.

He was a great poster boy for the name.

Rubyupbeat · 18/06/2026 07:31

Its only because I knew one who wasn't very nice, that I don't like it.

Yope · 18/06/2026 07:36

DS 17 has a friend named Miles.
Known him for years and have only ever heard his mates pronounce his name as 'Myawls' despite all coming from well spoken professional families in the SE.
He went through a stage in primary of being called kilometer when the boys were at their most immature, but that stage lasted quite a long time unfortunately.

Feelingshotshotshot · 18/06/2026 07:39

I don't like it, Milo is even worse, unless you're naming a dog of course.

I’ve just said it out loud, and realise I pronounce Mi -awls./alls How do other people pronounce it?

Giles - Jay - alls.

i think ‘kilometre’ is quite sweet, unless he hated it. A bit like calling a very tall person ‘Tiny’.

Love it & it’s DS2’s middle name. Chose the Myles spelling as DH said the other reminded him of Air Miles (he flew a lot for work and amassed thousands of those). I love The Proclaimers, so that association didn’t put me off!

Chexton · 18/06/2026 08:06

I have a Miles 🙋🏻‍♀️!

He is 4 years old now and the happiest little boy. We call him ‘Smiley Miley’. He absolutely suits the name and wouldn’t change it for the world. Haven’t met another yet.

boundarysponge · 18/06/2026 08:09

I know 3 under 5 so getting more popular

Newlittlerescue · 18/06/2026 08:11

It makes me think of the punchline to a childhood joke: "Miles Green, fairly hip kid" (a pun on Mild Green Fairy Liquid). But I have no idea what the actually joke was! Anyone?

StationJack · 18/06/2026 09:18

It's a name not a 'baby name'.Smile
Milo is a dog's name.

ClearlyNoIdea · 18/06/2026 09:24

I love it.

JustJugglingCats · 18/06/2026 09:49

Love it! One of the kindest, nicest people I know is called Miles.

rubyslippers · 18/06/2026 09:50

Love it
timeless and suits a child and adult

Roomonthe3rdfloor · 18/06/2026 09:52

Love the name Miles, prefer the spelling Myles but lovely name either way!

Denim4ever · 18/06/2026 09:53

Posh and similar to Giles, Guy, Hugh, Marcus

bigboykitty · 18/06/2026 09:54

I love it too

StationJack · 18/06/2026 09:57

Marcus Rashford isn't 'posh' and is probably the one most people associate with the name.
