I also adored Anne of Green Gables – so maybe Katherine with a K!

Nancy (Blackett) or Tom (Dudgeon). Or Timothy for my namesake (or better still the real person he was based on - Oscar Gnosspelius )

Josephine (Jo) from Little Women.

Boys:
William (Will) from K.M. Peyton's Flambards series (and a twofer, since Will is also the name of a character from a book called White Ghost Summer, which I loved as a child).
Guy from Olivia Manning's Fortunes of War and its sequels.

I always loved the character Dickon from The Secret Garden, but I expect that it would be rather unfair to give a child that name these days.

My son and daughter are both named after book characters - one from a series of children's books and the other from a gothic fantasy. They both seem happy with their unusual names.

These were the names we had lined up for DC2 but a few weeks before their arrival, we changed our minds and went with a different one. I'd still use these names though.

Dd1 is named after dhs favourite book. JD Salingers "The catcher in the Rye"

I wanted to name DD1 Minnerva or Hermione - DH vetoed both so we went with Charlotte.

Gah I adored Gilbert and even suggested it as a name to DH but he said he wasn’t naming his son after a rugby ball 😭 (I think I’ve always liked Cordelia simply because Anne thought it was so romantic).

For a girl: maybe Josephine. Double whammy of both Little Women and Chalet School.

DH wanted Lyra which I agree is a lovely name and a great character/series, but I personally know four people who have called their daughters Lyra…
