Afternoon, DH and I are expecting twins, we haven’t found out the sex’s and don’t plan to, but I am due very soon and wondering what of options for combinations of names you like best.

So for girl/girl
We are stuck between
Leonora and Margarita (my favourite but DH worries it’s a bit “heavy”)
or
Leonora and Carlotta
or
Charlotte and Madeleine

Boy/Girl
Gabriel and Leonora
Gabriel and Charlotte
Sebastian and Margarita

Boy/Boy
Gabriel and Sebastian
Augustus and Sebastian
Gabriel and Theodore

Which combo is your favourite? Any you really dislike? Any combinations you think we might like?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Why? Margarita is a beautiful Spanish name?

I’m sorry it just makes me hungry and I think of pizza. If you are in Spain great if you are anywhere else I wouldn’t use this name as your kid might be bullied

Sochates · 28/05/2026 16:16

I Have a colleague called Leonora who’s Italian and absolutely lovely so I might be biased but I think Leonora and Carlotta are lovely together. I love Sebastian and Augustus too.

JanefromLondon1 · 28/05/2026 16:27

Charlotte & Madelaine
Gabriel & Theodore
Gabrel & Charlotte

wombpaloumpba · 28/05/2026 16:28

wombpaloumpba · 28/05/2026 16:29

TinyMouseTheatre · 28/05/2026 16:58

Leonora & Carlotta

Gabriel & Charlotte

and can I pair Augustus with Theodore? Two of my favourite boy’s names.

Actually if it does turn out to be girl/boy then how about Carlotta & Augustus?

jannier · 28/05/2026 17:02

My cousins a Leanora hates it ..
Nick names at school...Raw, Lion, Nora on a bone...calls herself Lee

NamingNoNames · 28/05/2026 17:02

I'd go for shorter names. Long names are likely to get shortened.
Girls' names:
Charlotte and Madeleine is the best combination
Leonora and Margarita - 9 syllables is a lot
Leonora and Carlotta - I'm not keen on either of them.

I don't like any of the boys' names. I dislike Theodore.

Imagine yourself calling 'Leonora and Sebastian' across the park for the umpteenth time that day.
Try them with the surname and try out any diminutives.

DinoDances · 28/05/2026 17:48

Unfortunately I agree with others re Margarita. It might be a name elsewhere, but unless you're actually Spanish and plan to spend a lot of time there it's not a name I'd want in the UK, and I don't particularly like it as a sound. I think combined with Leonora it's also a very long pair to say.

My favourite combinations are:
Charlotte and Madeleine
Gabriel and Sebastian
Gabriel and Madeleine (I know you didn't have this as an option but these are my 2 favourite).

ravenclaworslytherin · 28/05/2026 17:55

For girl/girl my favourite is:
Leonora and margarita

Girl/boy:
Sebastian and margarita

Bot/boy:
Gabriel and Sebastian

MiddleAgedDread · 28/05/2026 17:58

charlotte and madeleine aka Lottie & Maddie
sebastian and charlotte
sebastian and Theodore aka Seb & Theo

TinyMouseTheatre · 28/05/2026 18:30

Can I ask what diminutive names you’re thinking of for Margarita and Leonora

Leonora - Nora?

Margarita - Marge or Rita?

With the others I can see more commonly used ones like Charlotte being called Lottie, Charlie or even Sharl. Madeleine could be Leine if you don’t want the Madeleine McCann association?

Stoicandhappy · 28/05/2026 18:32

Charlotte and Leonora
Sebastian and Charlotte
Sebastian and Theodore

mumonthehill · 28/05/2026 18:32

I have a Gabriel and Sebastian was also on my list! My other ds name is very similar to one on your list! Fab boys names.

Are you Spanish? Some Spanish names are great but in the UK with no other context may seem a bit heavy.

Charlotte (NOT Lottie) and Madeleine (NOT Maddie)

Sebastian and Charlotte

Sebastian and Gabriel

mishmashmess · 28/05/2026 18:35

Leonora & Margarita - I love both. My sister's MIL is a Margarita and gets called Margie (with the g pronounced as a g as in great, not a j sound).

DH is half Spanish, I am half Italian, but we aren’t really picking names based on where they are from originally just how much we personally like them.

OtterandaRock · 28/05/2026 18:37

Gabriel and Rafael
Theodore and Leonora (the vowels flow beautofully)
Margarita and Gabriela

Gateappreciation · 28/05/2026 18:39

Charlotte and Madeleine (Charlie/Lottie and Maddy)

Gabriel and Charlotte

Sebastien and Theodore ( I know that combination wasn’t on your list)

TheeNotoriousPIG · 28/05/2026 18:49

I would choose Leonora and Madeleine, Gabriel and Leonora, and Gabriel and Sebastian. I'm glad to see that Leonora is getting a bit of love on here!

user293948849167 · 28/05/2026 19:06

Charlotte and Madeleine for girls
Also like Margarita (Marguerite even better)
Not keen on Leonora or Carlotta

Boys
Gabriel and Theodore
Sebastian and Augustus are ok

Boy/Girl
Gabriel and Charlotte

NamingNoNames · 28/05/2026 19:37

DH is half Spanish, I am half Italian ...
How will your relatives say the names?

Why? Margarita is a beautiful Spanish name?

Which is fine if you live in Spain.

If not, it is the name of a common pizza and no child should be lumbered with that name.

Sorry to be harsh.

But hopefully you live in Spain and it won’t be an issue.

FryingPam · 28/05/2026 20:07

I like them all apart from Margarita. Like others I first thought drink and then I got hungry. Not disputing that it’s a beautiful Spanish name, but you’ll get these associations in the UK where the drink and the pizza are just much more popular than the name.
How about Margot or Margret?
