Some lovely names! For me in order

Marnie - love it
Elise - objectively it is a beautiful name, I just happen to know a nightmare of an Elise, but it is lovely really
Libby - it is my favourite shortening for Elizabeth but I would use Elizabeth as a full name myself
Heidi -like it but for me very associated with mountains and goats!
Nina - pretty and simple
Keira or Tia - not keen on these, don't really know why though, just not my style

MsSmartShoes · 15/05/2026 12:23

I love Marnie, Nina and Heidi.
Elise and Libby are fine.
Keira and Tia are not great.

ImFineItsAllFine · 15/05/2026 12:29

Keira and Tia are OK

Thanks 😊 If you don't mind me asking, what is it you don't like about Marnie and Libby? I promise I won't be in the least offended. 😅

I like Marnie. Libby feels very 90s, so does Kiera, Nina and Tia. I really dislike Nina - I’ve never met a nice person called Nina!!

NamingNoNames · 15/05/2026 12:38

None are awful and it depends what your surname is but here are my thoughts:

Nina - like but 'nee-nah nee-nah'
Marnie - OK. Hitchcock film
Heidi - fine but think of the book. Might be 'Hides' and get Hi-de-hi jokes
Elise - I read it first as Elsie. Lotus car.
Libby - brand name Product - Corned Beef
Keira - I don't like it but Ciara's ok
Tia - sounds like 'tear'. It's Spanish and Portuguese for Aunt.

tartyflette · 15/05/2026 12:39

Heidi and (shades of the Lonely Goat-herd song and the risk of being yodelled at ) and Tia ( Maria?) are not great.
The others are fine.

Tonissister · 15/05/2026 12:40

I like Marnie, and Elise is pretty.

The other names are not to my taste (but I have very traditional, mainstream taste in girls' names.)

Marnie. Love it, I’d be very happy to be called Marnie.
Heidi. It’s ok, I went to school with one who always got called Seekie which kind of puts me off.
Elise. Pretty but a bit meh.
Libby. Not keen at all, I’ve never met a Libby who wasn’t annoying! I prefer Lizzy as a nn for Elizabeth.
Nina. Another one I’m not keen on. I makes me think of ninny.
Keira. Not my taste. I’ve heard it a lot and oddly know several big dogs called Keira.
Tia. Maria nuff said.

luckylavender · 15/05/2026 12:52

I like Heidi, Elise and Libby. Although Libby is a nn of Elizabeth. Dislike Marnie and Tia. Also Keira but also find it ‘heavy’. A bit meh about Nina

EnglishBreakfastTea1 · 15/05/2026 13:29

Heidi or Elise.

Peanutlicious · 15/05/2026 13:33

I like Tia, Elise and Keira

BellaBlackberry83 · 15/05/2026 13:37

Marnie has an unpleasant, whiny sound to me. It is also a name that is quite accent dependent.

I like Libby and Heidi.
Not a fan of Nina, Tia or Keira.

SpaceAngel1999 · 15/05/2026 14:00

Love Heidi. I had two boys so I used the name for my female dog 😂

PlusPoncho · 15/05/2026 14:04

Elise and Nina are both longstanding favourites of mine

Thanks, how is Ciara pronounced normally?

Kee-ra

The name Kira is of a different origin, I think, but sounds the same. Keira will get misspelt as Kiera, but all 4 names are likely to be misspelt on occasions.

Ciara will get mixed up with Clara and Chiara (Key-ara), and will get said as See-ara.

Oh right so same as Keira just a different spelling. I think you're right Ciara is better.

I don't know, I just don't like the way they sound. It's nothing specific I'm afraid!

Scrumbless · 15/05/2026 15:26

Kids today are not going to make Hi-Di-Hi jokes, they won’t have a clue! Also Heidi is quite popular now so it’s just a very normal name.

I love the name Elise, I know two. One of them is a total power house and will probably be prime minister one day.

Mumsntfan1 · 15/05/2026 15:43

I love Libby and Tia. Not so keen on the others but also nice names.

PrincessOfPreschool · 15/05/2026 16:13

Nina I like best. Also like Libby. I only know one and she's 19.

Keira and Tia, no. They just sound a bit 'council estate' (sorry not sure how else to say it) and at the same time, a bit dated.

The rest are OK but I don't love them.

The number of times I've tread that kids today won't know something...

Xmasallergies · 15/05/2026 16:58

I don’t like Tia, it sounds less pretty than the rest. Also sounds more nasal,
I think Heidi and Elise are the best.
