Twin girls: ideas for a sister name to go with Caroline

Hi everyone,
I gave birth to twin girls yesterday morning! We didn’t find out the gender before they were born and so we haven’t decided what to call them yet, and as they are currently in NICU due to being prem I have a lot of time on my hands to chose the most perfect names.
One of them will be Caroline (this was DH’s mums name who tragically died earlier this year) as we want to honour DH’s mum and I love the name.
However we can’t think of another girls name that goes with Caroline and that we both like.
The middle names will be Elizabeth and then possibly either Sarah, Emily or Kate.
Any ideas are so welcome!
Thank you x

I think I’d go for Caroline Elizabeth and Elizabeth Caroline

Firstly, huge congratulations on your twin girls!
I hope they're doing well.

I love the name Caroline. I suggest Amelia or Sophia for the second baby girl.

NamingNoNames · 08/04/2026 13:33

Caroline Sarah and Elizabeth Emily.

Congratulations! Flowers

BigWig78 · 08/04/2026 13:34

Caroline and Anna Kate
Caroline and Lucy Emily

is there another name linked to your MIL though as I am aware that one twin will have a lovely homage to her late granny and the other one a name picked by MNetters which isn’t quite equal. Nice though we are!! And as a sister of a sister (though not a twin) I am aware of comparison between perceived “favouritism” was rife growing up…

LassiKopiano24 · 08/04/2026 13:35

Did your MIL have a middle name you can use?

Bluegreenbird · 08/04/2026 13:38

Love Caroline- she can be Carrie.
You like classic names so how about Jane? Simple and pretty and underused.

wizzler · 08/04/2026 13:41

Sadie

Gingercar · 08/04/2026 13:41

I like Caroline too. What about Luceille? They can shorten to Carrie and Lucy.

MaryAlixe · 08/04/2026 13:44

Could you use your mum’s name?

It's Lucille and the vibe is totally different to Caroline. Lucy is nice, Lucille is a bit 'Southern Belle'.

I think I’d go for Caroline Elizabeth and Elizabeth Caroline

Why? That is a bonkers suggestion.

OP how about Annabelle or Felicity?

Myoldbear · 08/04/2026 13:48

I think Joanna sounds nice with Caroline

YorkshireIndie · 08/04/2026 13:49

Sophie? Eliza? Alice? Felicity?

Congratulations!

HeyMay · 08/04/2026 13:49

If you are giving one a family link it would be good to give both the same blessing. Are there any other names in either of your families that you like? Aunties, cousins, great grannies? Ask your parents and you FIL to think of everyone they can and give you a list!

Caroline is beautiful, and really timeless but not currently 'in', which is a good thing. Ideally find another name that won't date, so avoid Ava, Sophia, Grace, Ellie, etc.

MiddleAgedDread · 08/04/2026 13:50

Congratulations!
Before the read the rest of your post my first response was going to be Caroline and Elizabeth!
Caroline Sarah and Elizabeth Kate

MakeMineStrong · 08/04/2026 13:50

Charlotte!

Allmydays2 · 08/04/2026 13:53

Christine?

Goodluckanddontfitup · 08/04/2026 13:53

I’d go with something equally classic and pretty like Laura perhaps? Or Emily which you are suggested as a middle name would go nicely as well, or something like Francesca?

wonkhamstrong · 08/04/2026 13:55

Caroline and Julia
Caroline and Georgina
Caroline and Iris
Caroline and Alice
Caroline and Cecilia
Caroline and Dorothea

FallenNight · 08/04/2026 13:55

That’s your opinion..

Lisanne55 · 08/04/2026 13:57

What is your mother's name or MIL's middle name? It would be nice to have another family name.

Charlotte - both Caroline and Charlotte are feminine forms of Charles
Elizabeth - instead of using it as a middle name
Catherine
Eleanor
Emma
Carla
Constance

Skybluepinky · 08/04/2026 13:58

Use Caroline as a middle name for both or you are singling out one to be the special one.

FallenNight · 08/04/2026 13:59

Caroline and Felicity

Verity, Vivienne or Josephine

That’s your opinion..

At least I can spell it.
