Twin girls: ideas for a sister name to go with Caroline

Gentlegiraffe10 · 08/04/2026 13:30

Hi everyone,
I gave birth to twin girls yesterday morning! We didn’t find out the gender before they were born and so we haven’t decided what to call them yet, and as they are currently in NICU due to being prem I have a lot of time on my hands to chose the most perfect names.
One of them will be Caroline (this was DH’s mums name who tragically died earlier this year) as we want to honour DH’s mum and I love the name.
However we can’t think of another girls name that goes with Caroline and that we both like.
The middle names will be Elizabeth and then possibly either Sarah, Emily or Kate.
Any ideas are so welcome!
Thank you x

Caroline and Anna Kate
Caroline and Lucy Emily

is there another name linked to your MIL though as I am aware that one twin will have a lovely homage to her late granny and the other one a name picked by MNetters which isn’t quite equal. Nice though we are!! And as a sister of a sister (though not a twin) I am aware of comparison between perceived “favouritism” was rife growing up…

This was my first thought. What about your own mother OP?

Showing my age but there were twins Caroline and Christina in neighbours decades ago

I wouldn’t go for two Cs though. I’d go for something like Felicity. Congratulations!

I know sisters called Caroline and Elizabth. What about Victoria?

PauliesWalnuts · 08/04/2026 17:22

I’m a Caroline Bethan and it’s always sounded nice to me ☺️

NancyMeyers · 08/04/2026 17:25

Bethan? So Carrie and Beth.

BananaPeels · 08/04/2026 17:26

Am I the only one who jumped to Christina or is that just showing my age?

semideponent · 08/04/2026 17:29

Caroline and Georgina
Caroline and Henrietta
Caroline and Charlotte
Caroline and Louisa

SwedishEdith · 08/04/2026 17:31

Caroline is lovely. I'd want a similar length of name/similar number of syllables to pair with it.

Londonmummy66 · 08/04/2026 17:33

Charlotte - then they are both named after Georgian queens....

COuld be nick named Carrie and CHarlie

I did my family tree a while back and there were a few Carolines in the 1700s and 1800s. Their mothers/sisters were:

Elizabeth/Eliza
Harriet
Anne (so many Annes)
Alice
Martha
Hannah

When I was growing up I knew a couple of Caroline and Jennifer families.

Love Caro

Also, I think Susannah goes well with Caroline

RosesAndHellebores · 08/04/2026 18:21

PS @Gentlegiraffe10 CONGRATULATIONS and I hope you are OK and not too sore.

wilmawebb · 08/04/2026 18:22

Many years ago I worked in a nursery school and we had twins there called Caroline and Susan. I think they go quite well together but maybe a bit old fashioned for today.

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 08/04/2026 18:22

Caroline and Susannah
Caroline and Hannah

NamingNoNames · 08/04/2026 18:24

@wilmawebb , I really like the name Susan but I know some mean Sues.
