Don’t want to use a family name as a middle name, so wondering what goes well with Clementine. Surname is two syllables

I absolutely love Clementine - it was vectoed by DH for ours sadly. Definitely go with a one syllable I think - Dawn, Faith, Eve, Hope, May, June, Lou are all lovely suggestions here- just not the predictable Rose or Grace!

teatum · 11/02/2026 15:45

Ooh- and Maeve

No offence but Clementine is an awful name and will be ripped to shreds at school etc

if you could choose a name for yourself would you choose Clementine? Course you wouldn’t, don’t inflict it on the poor kid

DS has a Clementine in his class no one rips her to shreds!! How ridiculous

I know someone upthread said not Rose, it's too predictable, but so what? It's a middle name and there's a reason why one syllable middle names are so popular with longer first names. Clementine Rose is absolutely perfect. So pretty, elegant, classic but not dull.

I personally like unexpected middle names so would avoid Grace, Rose, May, Elizabeth

Though Clementine is quite unusual so i wouldn't go too unusual in the middle just not a name you necessarily expect to see in the middle.

Depends on your vibe

Clementine Alexandra
Clementine Natalie
Clementine Jasmine
Clementine Olivia
Clementine Lucy
Clementine Amelia
Clementine Hannah
Clementine Rachel

I like Clementine Alexandra.

Even though I am not quick to think Clementine relates to the fruit, I do think things like Clementine Joy, Clementine June, Clementine Jade, Clementine Jane etc sound a bit close to Clementine juice.

And Clementine Joy sounds a bit like a brand of orange dessert or ice lolly.

But I like Clementine Alexandra, Clementine Alice and Clementine Mary. I think it's quite pretty, and just be careful with the middle name.

stargirl27 · 11/02/2026 15:50

Alice immediately came to mind!

I agree.

It's a bit tedious that people go on about not using Rose. It gets used because it works so well to showcase a first name. It is pretty, simple, classic and embellishes without detracting.

That's WHY it is so common as a middle name.

Clementine Rose is lovely.

This is wild. These are two really different names. Curious to know what your reasoning is.

I see a lot of posts on Baby Names where people go 'I really love Carly, anything else like this' and people go 'Georgiana, Meredith, Tabasco, Jane'. I'm always curious as to what prompts this type of thing.

Gorgeous name

I'm in the one syllable camp as well

It's really not that weird or out there. Not super common but a 'proper' and fairly established name. Certainly not a name that would elicit teasing round here. I have known one Clemetine (sometimes Clemmi) and her name was a non issue - just pretty and underused.

Imaginingdragonsagain · 11/02/2026 22:38

I like Clementine Juliet. Or Hope or Fleur for one syllable names.

So nothing O Olivia etc as her initials will be COW but I’m sure you’ve thought of that

clementine Elizabeth is nice x my daughters bestie is Clemmie - I love her name

I like Clementine Juniper then she can be CJ should she want to be x

I like Jane or Anne - any relatives you’d like to honour with using their name ?

Tamtim · 12/02/2026 00:52

Clementine is a gorgeous name. Something whimsical as a middle name would be lovely.

AlbieJiggered · 12/02/2026 11:37

@CoastalCalm , Filler middle names. Clementine Jane is too close to Calamity Jane.

@Tamtim , it's not gorgeous. It's twee and makes me think of Clammy.
