Don’t want to use a family name as a middle name, so wondering what goes well with Clementine. Surname is two syllables

Clementine Mandarin
Clementine Polenta

I think something with either one or three syllables would work best

Clementine Kate Smithson
Clementine Naomi Smithson

(Smithson eg of a two syllable surname, obviously )

Clementine Priscilla

HelenaWilson · 10/02/2026 19:28

Oh haven't we got a lot of (would be) humourists on this thread.

The name Clementine has been around a lot longer than the fruit, which was actually named after someone called Clement.

ALittleBitofWensleydale · 10/02/2026 19:33

Clementine was top of my girl list....but I had boys. Beautiful name.
I like Lucy, Rosa and Hope as middle names.

Amelia means absence of limbs, so definitely not.

I’m sure most people think Earhart or even Dimoldenberh before they think of limb difference. It’s been a very popular name for decades!

Snoringdogsfarting · 10/02/2026 19:37

For those of you saying stupid things like Madarin and the such like you obviously don’t know that Clementine is a really beautiful classic name and was Winston Churchills wife’s name.

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 10/02/2026 19:38

Gorgeous name OP…how about Faith for a middle name? Clementine Faith 🥰

Treesinsummer · 10/02/2026 19:39

Clementine is a lovely name!

Clementine Juliet
Clementine Louisa
Clementine Olivia
Clementine Faye
Clementine Ruth

It’s a beautiful name. I’d go 1 syllable for the middle name. X

Diamond7272 · 10/02/2026 19:49

Depends on your surname and initials...

If it's 'jones', then not Clare, Caroline, or camilla... No one wants to start their life with a CCJ.

If it's 'Terry', I'd keep away from ursula and Natalie as a 3rd forename...

It happens... We had a Katie Nicola Olivia Brand at school last year. Not good.

Clementine Mandarin
Clementine Polenta

Your first comment wasn’t funny either. You’ve made your point - you don’t appreciate the name. No need to be rude and ridicule the OPs choice.
OP - I love the name

Anabellie · 10/02/2026 19:52

Clementine Aurelia
Clementine Aurora
Clementine Eloise

Whatisityoucantface · 10/02/2026 19:58

It’s a great name! I was expecting someone to have suggested Darling as a middle name though…
When is your baby due? You could use the month name - April, May, June/Juno. Or look at the birth stones/ flowers for each month for some inspiration so there is a meaning associated with the choice. Or keep it seasonal, for example Eira means snow in Welsh so I think that’s a lovely middle name for a winter baby or one born on a snowy day. Luna or Phoebe for a baby born on a full moon even.

And back in the 18th century, Clementina Sobieska was a Polish princess who was married to James Edward Stuart. If you were a Jacobite, she was the rightful queen of England and Scotland.

Thank you everyone for your lovely suggestions and also your kind support. The name is important to me for several reasons and I appreciate the supportive comments

No offence but Clementine is an awful name and will be ripped to shreds at school etc

if you could choose a name for yourself would you choose Clementine? Course you wouldn’t, don’t inflict it on the poor kid

In your opinion, and, the OP wasn't asking for opinions on Clementine so it's pretty nasty to be mean about a name she has clearly already picked! I think it's a beautiful and unusual name.

DonaldDonaldson · 10/02/2026 21:29

Clementine Tangerina
Clementine Mandarina
Clementine Vitamin C

Clementine Sophie

RegalDiamondMonster · 10/02/2026 21:36

So weird there are all these comments on a Clementine thread. Fair enough if it's something like Balonz or Jimberley, but Clementine's been around ages and is a normal name!

I like Clementine June, Clementine Lucy and Clementine Juliet.

Exactly. My first thought was Churchill's wife. I think it's a beautiful name.

Hamsterapocalypse · 10/02/2026 21:46

Jaffa?

Alouest · 10/02/2026 21:52

I would go for something fairly classic. My own daughter has an unusual first name so I went with something much less out there for her middle name.

Lucy
Mary
Anna
Jane

Something like that, maybe.

I like Clementine a lot. Also love Clemency.
