Hi everyone,
Our little girl was born on Thursday and we still don’t have a name!! We have a shortlist but I don’t know if they are just overdone and boring or if they are just classic, timeless options. Please can we have your opinions on our list and any others you think might suit!

Charlotte
Emma
Beatrix
Naomi

Thank you x

Charlotte.Sounds lovely and can be Charlie or Lottie

Coffeeishot · 24/01/2026 10:33

I love your list although Naomi is my least favourite but that is preferance really, anyway timeless names are not "safe" they are strong imo . Fwiw Emma is my favourite.

RonnSeall · 24/01/2026 10:44

Love Naomi!

beatrix is ok but just makes me think Beatrix Potter and cute animals.

the other 2 are nice classic names but a bit dull in my opinion.

BoleynMemories13 · 24/01/2026 11:04

Congratulations

I love Charlotte and Emma so my taste definitely leans more towards 'safe but classic' too. The other two are not to my taste and I wouldn't describe either as safe or particularly classic.

I know what OP means by 'safe'. I agree that Charlotte and Emma are strong names. Classic names can be a great choice, but they are 'safe' in that you know someone with that name will always fit in, they'll never be teased for their name, nobody is ever going to think "what the hell were their parents thinking?!" etc. Safe isn't necessarily a bad thing.

cartagenagina · 24/01/2026 11:08

Did you not consider Tragedeigh?

WhosMadeline · 24/01/2026 11:12

All lovely. I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix though.

FairyGardensx · 24/01/2026 11:33

Poppy, Amy, Emma and lavender are my favourite.

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 24/01/2026 11:35

I think Emma is pretty boring but the others are nice. Naomi is my favourite.

Blackcountryexile · 24/01/2026 11:36

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter.
I think all your names are lovely. Easy to.spell and pronounce
Your daughter would fit in anywhere with any of those names. That matters to a lot of people.
I know a lovely primary school.aged Beatrix. I think Beatrice is lovely as well. I also know a Naomi Charlotte which I think is beautiful.

NoYourNameChanged · 24/01/2026 11:40

Congratulations, best wishes to you 💐
Well, Emma and Charlotte were on my girls name list when we had DD and we chose one so clearly I don’t think they’re boring! Classic and timeless , I think. Our 4yo son’s name is far, FAR less common (have only met one other, that one in his twenties), altho still a ‘real’ name and easily recognisable and spell-able, and I do wonder sometimes whether I should’ve gone slightly less popular for our girl, but it suits her perfectly.

We also had Vivienne, Marianne, Harriet, Georgia, Eleanor, Alice and Felicity on our list, if you’re remotely interested!

TheChosenTwo · 24/01/2026 11:44

charlotte is too royal for my liking but it’s a pretty name.
i think they’re all fine tbh, nice solid classic names. I’m not a fan of the very unique names personally so would prefer something everyone has heard of and can spell!

CherryPinkAppleBlossomWhite · 24/01/2026 11:44

I love Emma...I nearly chose it for DD2 but I went for Emily instead. Charlotte is nice too but as others have said there are so many of them, and I do not like Lottie at all. Emma Charlotte would be a beautiful combination.

Mumofgirls2017 · 24/01/2026 12:09

I like Beatrix best (and that is probably the least ‘boring’ if you want to use that term)

other suggestions

harriet

Shmee1988 · 24/01/2026 12:13

Emma is my fave. I have 2 DSs aged 13 and 6. Neither of them have had any Emmas in their year, ever. Its timeless. Very popular 30 years back and maybe overused then. Definitely not now. Also love Naomi. Congrats, OP!! X

MirandaBlu · 24/01/2026 12:14

I especially love Naomi, but they're all good, solid names.

LowdermilkPark · 24/01/2026 12:15

Perfectly harmless names. I am not keen on Beatrix and Naomi (and people seem to not know how to pronounce it), as they are quite ‘ugly’ names imo, but the others are nice.

spiderlight · 24/01/2026 12:15

All lovely names. I particularly like Charlotte and Emma. I know a lovely little Beatrice, known as Bee.

BaronessBomburst · 24/01/2026 12:21

Naomi is my favourite but they are all beautiful.
And congratulations!

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 24/01/2026 12:24

I’m an Emma, it was a popular name growing up but seems to be less used now. I’ve always liked it and grateful to have been given a nice, pleasant name.

ChocoChocoLatte · 24/01/2026 12:42

I love Beatrice NN Bea.

Naomi is lovely too

Blueskiesnotgrey · 24/01/2026 12:44

I find Emma very boring and beige, sorry to all the Emmas.

Charlotte seems classic and timeless to me.

Love Beatrix and Naomi is also quite nice.

Cocktailsandcheese · 24/01/2026 12:46

Lovely names, although I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. My favourite from your list is Charlotte.

Ipsevenenabibas · 24/01/2026 12:48

I think Emma is so underrated! Love it. A classic!

Blorengia · 24/01/2026 12:53

I think Emma and Charlotte are lovely but they're fairly common these days. Naomi is nice, as is Beatrix.

(My husband rather liked Emma when our daughter was born 40+ years ago... but then she would have sounded like the soap Emmerdale)
