Scottish with two very Scottish surnames - middle name would be Alexander!

Douglas!

Dougal sounds comedic to me.

Mischance · 07/01/2026 15:13

Dougal is the dog in the Magic Roundabout. Stick with Douglas!

UnusualOtter · 07/01/2026 15:16

Douglas

Musicaltheatremum · 07/01/2026 15:23

Douglas.

Mizztikle · 07/01/2026 15:28

I vote for Douglas, but ether way he'll probably end up being called Duggie for short.

HoldingTheDoor · 07/01/2026 15:33

Douglas. Definitely not Dougal.

Gagamama2 · 07/01/2026 15:34

Douglas.

Will v v likely be shortened to Doug by school friends

IsThisLifeNow · 07/01/2026 15:36

Douglas.

Dougal will never not be Father Ted for me! Not a bad name, but just, comedy!

Tiedyeegg · 07/01/2026 15:39

Dougal immediately makes me think of father ted. And old men. I’m in central scotland and every Dougal I know is over 70 at least

Douglas is nice though.

TakeTheCuntingQuichePatricia · 07/01/2026 15:40

My cousin is called Douglas, but everyone calls him Dougal

SecretSquirrelLoo · 07/01/2026 15:40

Douglas!

SheSaidSheCouldButSheLied · 07/01/2026 15:41

Neither.

Dougal - The Magic Roundabout
Douglas - Hey Duggee

Onefortheroad25 · 07/01/2026 15:48

Neither!

Dolphindances · 07/01/2026 16:33

Douglas, 100%

Douglas Alexander is a brilliant, strong name!

GiddyDog · 07/01/2026 16:35

Douglas. Dougal= father Ted.
Duncan? Still Scottish but personal preference I like it better than Douglas. Either sounds good with Alexander which is my favourite boy name, lovely choices.

susiedaisy1912 · 07/01/2026 16:50

Neither

LlynTegid · 07/01/2026 16:52

Another person favouring Douglas, just be prepared to accept Doug as an abbreviation.

Kumquatzest · 07/01/2026 17:04

Dougal just reminds me of the simple-minded character in Father Ted.

Douglas is better.

MylipstickiscalledHugMe · 07/01/2026 17:05

I'm sure it'll be over soon but at the moment the dance known as the Dougie is wildly popular on social media. Some people might dance at him or assume it was inspired by the dance (it's very cool so maybe that doesn't matter)

purpleygrey · 07/01/2026 17:09

Please do not call your child Dougal. That’s got to be a typo ?

Rainbow1235 · 07/01/2026 17:13

My father was Douglas and I’m having g a new grandson in June and he will be called Dougie . Fabulous name

Ex boyfriend called Duncan or I would have gone with that!

Well you will have to totally ignore me but I love Dougal! Not a fan of Douglas at all but Dougie is fab either way.
