Dougal or Douglas?

Scottish with two very Scottish surnames - middle name would be Alexander!

I prefer Dougal because it's more interesting. Would probably choose Douglas because it's understandable and well known worldwide, even though it's not very popular, which is the sweet spot.
I had very original and cool name ideas for DC, but chose solid and safe options.
