My name is Sophie. Thinking of naming new baby Sophia

I love my name and she is due the same week as me :)

No, of course you can't prevent people going out with people with similar names .....I was just posting it as it was funny! Alice and Alex sound v similar (when said fast) so all 3 in the household had the same or similar names.....

DS in his 30s is called Oliver (it became much more common after he was born). DIL wanted to call their DD Olivia, likely their only child. He refused saying it made him look like an "egotistical dick." They settled on it as a middle name.

I (a woman) have a similar name to my Dad, think Charlie. Was never an issue, in fact quite liked it. My siblings had different names and were never bothered by this

I know a couple, Lucy and Andrew, who have two children called Lucia and Andrey. Which I think is odd and lacking in imagination.

Sophia is very pretty, I don't think it really matters that it's very similar to your name. It's quite sweet

In practical terms it could be annoying. Lots of little things that might grate. If your husband calls a name from another room you might not distinguish those two names.
