Hiya everyone,
I’m due a baby girl in the next 2 weeks so time is running out! We have a shortlist but I’m just not massively convinced by any or can find a negative to each one! Middle name will be Elizabeth as it’s a family tradition on my side.
Which of the following would you choose? Any other suggestions? Any names you love but didn’t get to use?
Jemima
Georgina
Beatrice
Charlotte
Rebecca
Naomi
Thanks guys! x

How long is your surname? If it's multisyllabic you could end up with quite a hefty name with some of these.

TomatoSandwiches · 20/11/2025 20:29

I like Naomi best but not with Elizabeth..
With Elizabeth as a middle name I think Beatrice and Charlotte go best and are timeless names, can't go wrong.

DS17 was going to be Hazel if he turned out to be a girl, Jessica was the 2nd choice name for DD13 but DH came up with another name as she didn't really look like a Jessica.
DS9 was going to be Anna if he was a girl, I think Anna Elizabeth is another very strong combo.

Jemima NO it’s a dogs name
Georgina NO
Beatrice NO
Charlotte Yes
Rebecca YES
Naomi NO

Silverbirchleaf · 20/11/2025 20:30

Jemima - and it’s not a dogs name

Goandygo · 20/11/2025 20:30

All lovely names. My favourite is Georgina, closely followed by Rebecca.
I didn't get to use my favourite girl's name....Elizabeth.
Also love Eleanor.

CoffeeLipstickKeys · 20/11/2025 20:31

What’s your background or heritage, any of those names you like?

IggyAce · 20/11/2025 20:32

Charlotte or Rebecca gets my vote.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/11/2025 20:32

Jemima is my favourite from your list.

We nearly called our DD Iris and would have used it in my next pregnancy but had a boy.

schoolsoutforever · 20/11/2025 20:33

I LOVE Naomi and always have
I like Beatrice
Charlotte is a good name but too popular for me
Georgina I don't mind
Not keen on the others.

Suggesting Lois and Harriet.

TiddlyToucan · 20/11/2025 20:34

Thanks for the replies.
I think my favourite is Rebecca and my Husbands is Beatrice.
Our surname is one syllable so luckily a longer first and middle name works.
Not heard of Jemima being a dogs name before, but might just be my area.
Unfortunately my husband doesn’t like Eleanor or it would be on the list!

Eleanor Elizabeth is lovely.

Maireas · 20/11/2025 20:36

All these names are lovely, they're none of them "dogs' names"!
They're all suitable to go with Elizabeth. For preference I would choose Charlotte or Georgina.

lolly427 · 20/11/2025 20:37

I have an irrational hatred of the name Jemima, it's so limp to me. I wouldn't choose Georgina and Naomi doesn't go with Elizabeth IMO.
The other 3 I really like, Bea is a particularly nice NN too.

surprisebaby12 · 20/11/2025 20:38

Jemima is very uncommon and classic.

other ideas: Cecily, Francesca, Arabelle, Paloma, Jacinta or Allegra would fit the vibe

Emanwenym · 20/11/2025 20:40

I'd pick Jemima.

Georgina - like but a friend has one
Beatrice - like
Charlotte - like

No:
Rebecca - I know too many
Naomi - too many different ways people say it

I wouldn't worry about it going with the middle name, but would avoid names that are variants of Elizabeth.

Check that you like any obvious diminutive, and that they go with the surname.

Jessica, Philippa, Victoria?

TiddlyToucan · 20/11/2025 20:54

Yes the shortenings are a consideration!
I mean Beatrice would probably be Bea and Naomi / Jemima wouldn’t get shortened.
I don’t like the shortenings of Charlotte so that puts me off.
Just not sure the nicest nicknames for Georgina or Rebecca??

Naomi Elizabeth is lovely.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 20/11/2025 20:57

I always think that the trouble with Naomi as a name is that so many people seem to pronounce it "Nyomi", which is ghastly.

thornbury · 20/11/2025 21:01

Naomi

Scrabbler · 20/11/2025 21:07

Naomi- my favourite name but I had baby boys!

TomatoSandwiches · 20/11/2025 21:10

@TiddlyToucan my Rebecca is nn Boo

Mumofgirls2017 · 20/11/2025 21:12

Jemima

Tammygirl12 · 20/11/2025 21:12

I don’t like Naomi. I like all the others. The first few in the list go better with Elizabeth. Charlotte Elizabeth is nice! I also really like Beatrice

Love your style. I know a Jemima/“Jem” and a Georgina known as Georgie.

How about Caroline Elizabeth, Helena Elizabeth, Rosanna Elizabeth or Susanna Elizabeth?
