Thoughts on baby boy Radley?

My worry is it will get mis-heard as 'Bradley' and that could get annoying by the 10th time. My other children have unheard of names so anything I choose needs to be fitting.
If its not Radley, we like Kit (worried its getting popular though?), Shepherd, Archer and Cove but not 'in love' with any of them. Any other suggestions that fit this style? Find boys names so much harder than girls.
Last name begins with S and ends in a N.

I always imagine how they will introduce themselves in a job interview and Kit and Shepherd sound silly. As does Cove.

CookiesAreForSharing · 09/11/2025 18:47

I actually love Radley. How about Langston? After the poet. I considered some US state names for mine :) How about Kai instead of Kit? Hudson?

OneAmberFinch · 09/11/2025 19:01

"Hi I'm Radley"
"Oh hi Bradley"
"No, Radley, no B :)"
"Got it, nice to meet you"

vs

"Hi I'm Cove"
"WTAF"
<10 minute conversation about what your parents were smoking>

At least Radley kind of sounds like a name in form rather than just a random object, go with that over Shepherd or Cove!

Reagan
Tate
Baxter
Chase
Finn
Hero
Merlin
Eldon
Brannon

Im sorry OP I don't like any of them. I never understand why people want something so unusual, it isn't even a name? I mean Cove? I get we have great aspirations for our babies, but I'm sure 99% of children just want to fit in with their peers?

Summerbean · 09/11/2025 19:35

Handbags here I'm afraid.
I don't like the others apart from Kit

OldBeyondMyYears · 09/11/2025 19:45

Jesus Christ…Cove? Shepherd? What the actual fuck? Don’t be so bloody ridiculous.

Apart from Kit, which is a diminutive of Christopher, your name choices are utterly barking.

hattie43 · 09/11/2025 19:46

Radley is a handbag

On behalf of your future child, please don't use any of those names.

This .
it’s all very well saying we like weird names but the poor child will have no escape .

Radley School, used to live in the tatty estate near it...

Cove, really either a topographical feature or apparently a manager of a sheep station in Oz.

Kit(t) will always be the car for me, I'm old.

Agree Radley is a village or boarding school.
(also used to live nearby).

Currently live near a place called Cove . Shepherd- a surname.

Kit is ok!

sanityisamyth · 09/11/2025 19:56

Don’t they make purses?

2GreatFatSquirrels · 09/11/2025 20:20

Radley… like the handbag brand?

Kit is nice. Archer and Cove are very 2025 but will be one of many I think. Shepherd makes me think of a dog.

Alternatives that match the general vibe - Hunter, Wyatt, Ryan, Orion, Sawyer, Tristan.

No escape 🤣 How dramatic. My children could change their names once old enough and all have very normal traditional middle names incase they prefer to go by those.

That'll be Reagan then 😂

It's not Reagan. It's a feminine name on the list that is often believed to be 'masculine' but in old literature, isn't.

So you def just want your children to stand out even if it's not in a positive or helpful way for them. Only celebrities can get away with using ridiculous names because they are nepo babies. In real life it's a handicap.

If you want to avoid mockery for your third child atleast then go with Kit. The others are awful.

RavenPie · 09/11/2025 21:07

Axton? Onyx? Astor? Ovid? Linus? Nickel?

Shepherd? 🙄. JFC

Just choose a name which is not completely ridiculous

TomatoSandwiches · 09/11/2025 21:19

I think Radley would always be misheard as Bradley unfortunately, Kit is a nice name, my favourite from yours.

My own favourite weird name is Painter.

I also read about a male model named Lucky the other day, to me it's a unisex name that is unusual but quite cool imo.
