For twin sister to Margot.

I love Maud (this spelling), but I think Audrey goes better with Margot

Toddlerteaplease · 08/11/2025 18:02

Neither, they are just so depressing.

wertgyhjk · 08/11/2025 18:02

Maudrey! 😁

KathyDuck · 08/11/2025 18:03

Can I suggest Mabel? It’s a bit cheerier to match the jauntiness of Margot

BatchCookBabe · 08/11/2025 18:03

Both awful sorry @everly

TamarindCottage · 08/11/2025 18:05

Not keen on either. How about Matilda to go with Margot?

ALunchbox · 08/11/2025 18:05

I like both.

Same here.

I like Maud, but don't like Audrey or Margot, but they go together.
Margot and Mabel/Matilda for twins is awful. They aren't kittens.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 08/11/2025 18:09

Both are hideous. I like Margot though.

Moreteaandchocolate · 08/11/2025 18:09

I quite like Audrey. I just can’t come round to Maud, however hard I try!

BoleynMemories13 · 08/11/2025 18:10

Audrey isn't my style, but it's far nicer than Maude (which really isn't a nice sound, it just reminds me of mould).

Also, I would avoid siblings (especially twins) with the same initials. They should be treated as individuals, rather than a pair, and Margot and Audrey are far more individual in sound than Margot and Maude.

Georgiepud · 08/11/2025 18:13

I like Maude.

clearveil · 08/11/2025 18:16

Both are nice but I like Maude better.

Arlanymor · 08/11/2025 18:17

I love Maude, but I had a great Auntie Maude who I shared a birthday with (not birthdate obviously!) and I have loved that name ever since.

Edited

Im not aiming to pick matchy or cutsey names at all, just two names that I love and that complement each other nicely.

I do really like Matilda and Mabel is also a favourite as well.

How about Aubrey as a more modern spin? Maude if not.

Maude is the short German form of Matilda.

Emanwenym · 08/11/2025 18:24

Aubrey is a man's name. @CosySeason .

Aubrey is a male name.

disturbia · 08/11/2025 18:28

Matilda and Mabel are great but imagine being a teenager called Maude ...horrendous

TeenLifeMum · 08/11/2025 18:28

Maude makes me think of a scullery maid. I can get on with most names but that one makes me think you already hate your own dc. Audrey is okay. I love classic names and Margot is lovely.

MayaPinion · 08/11/2025 18:28

Margot and Sylvia sound brilliant together - like they wear kaftans and smoke French cigarettes.

Not anymore. Like Elliott can be fit either.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/11/2025 18:30

Definitely matilda! Or Andrea x

Topseyt123 · 08/11/2025 18:33

I don't like either really. If I really had to choose between them then Audrey would come out marginally ahead.

Maud is a very ugly name. I used to have a great aunt called Maud. She was a great character but made no secret of the fact that she absolutely hated her name.

I agree with those suggesting Matilda as a better option.
